2006 was what came to mind for me as well. 2011 had an elite D. The offense deserved the shite-kicking it received in January 2012.

Would have been nice to have the transfer portal after Mettenberger left.

Jennings was a backup in 2015 and at ULL in 2016.

2016 lsu defense has to be the most underrated lsu defense in the last 25 years (mainly due to it being a scratch year due to a coach getting fired mid season). I gets over looked. In the 4games we lost that season, I think we only gave up 3 total touchdowns.

1 Against wisky
0 Against Auburn
1 Against Bama
1 against Fla

Just goes to show how abysmal that offense was. You should win 100% of the games that your defense holds em to just 1 TD

2011 LSU

I went to every game that year home and away. It was a fun fricking season up until it wasn’t. I’ll remember Oregon, Bama and Morgantown until I take my last breath.

2011 is the greatest team in CFB history until 2019.

What they did will never again be accomplished.

They beat the National Champ on the road
They beat the Rose Bowl Champ neutral
They beat the Orange Bowl Champ on the road
They beat the Cotton Bowl Champ at home

This team should have gotten at least a co-championship after Bama’s mulligan.

2006 was unreal.

Leave it to two loss Les to find a way to bungle more loaded rosters than anyone in CFB history.

I don’t see how you guys are putting 06 any lower than 2.

They got skull dragged at Florida and people can bitch all they want about the shite calls on the last drive at Auburn, but a great team doesn’t piss away 3+ quarters of football like they did that game and realize oh shite we might lose on the last drive. Tenn was almost a disaster until Jamarcus realized he had legs. They needed a miracle to beat Ole Miss. they were horrible on offense like every Miles team until the last couple games.

They fumbled on the 1 yard line on the road against the eventual National Champs. If we go up 14-7 there it’s a different game.

05-06-07 we’re not horrible offensive teams. You have every right to your opinion but the offense didn’t turn to shite until after the 2008 debacle.

I say that with all due respect since you’re a long time poster lol. I just feel that was the best team Miles ever had in terms of talent and like you said we pissed it away.

11
07
06

Those seem to be concensus picks and the first 3 I thought of as well.

I’d add 12 for sure at 4

15 is my pick to round out the top 5 but I think almost every team but 08 would be a fair answer here

I'd switch 2005 and 2007, otherwise we agree.

Also had a TD called back by a phantom hold and there was a punt that our guy was practically standing in front of their punter and to this day I can't fathom how he did not block it.

In no way shape or form was that a skull drugging, turnovers (most unforced IMHO) and some tough breaks against us cost us that game.

In doing some research - surprising to me the 2009 and 2010 LSU rosters had the most players that had at least a cup of coffee in the NFL - 41 each of those years according to my search made NFL rosters if only for a brief time. That may speak to the decision by Miles to pull in the reins after 2008 that is often referenced here and I think justifiably.

Of course the pure quantity alone should not be the final gauge of pure talent as I still would argue 2006 had the most high end quality talent.

Sleeper pick and maybe at the end of my 5, but 2016 was an awesome team to watch talent wise, with guys like fournette and Jamal Adam’s. As a whole team they don’t compare to the rest of these top 5s.
