Matt Mauck
Rohan Davey
Jamarcus Russell
Jarret Lee
Josh Booty
Marcus Randall

Jordan Jefferson

Mettenburger (Just as bad as Jefferson, but without the ability to run once his primary receiver -- which he has stared down and now has four guys covering him -- is taken away. Oh and forget going to a second receiver or, LORD FORBID trying to throw on the run. If only he could throw after going past the line of scrimmage!!!)

Mett is pretty bad, but his WRs are collectively the worst group we've had at LSU in a while.

My rankings from most confident to least:

Flynn
Mauck
Russell
Davey
Lee
Booty
Mettenburger
Jefferson
Randall

He is just a run of the mill QB, that doesn't quite have it figured out yet. Give him one more year and he may rise up the list.

Sorry, but this doesn't make any sense. Try again.

How would you have ranked Jarret Lee after his first few games?

This thread does not do Mett justice as his body of work is not yet complete. Tired of people piling on. It may be an offensive (pun intended) problem but it ain't just Mett's.

Simma down now hoss. Nobody is blaming, piling, or otherwise suggesting anything about offensive scheme or difficulty.

The question is simply, are you more or less confident in Mettenburger than you were with other LSU QB's.

No more, no less. You are bringing all that other shite into it. For me, there are 4 QB's on that list that I have more confidence in, and 4 QB's that I have less confidence in.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that I hope my list has changed by the time he graduates.

But I would still have more confidence in him than Mett.

yeah i'm not ready to sell him down the river with all of those who think rivers is a miracle waiting on the bench... remember when METT was that same guy?

I'd say it's mostly not his deal, and any QB short of RG3, or a Tebow/Driskell(sry, he's pretty good) couldn't get themselves out of trouble long enough to make some plays.

the structure/plan of the offense is just... offensive

Right now, in all honesty, I would have to put Mett below Jefferson. Can he be a better QB? Definitely. But just right now, it seems like when Mett drops back, he will:
1 complete the pass
2 complete the pass, which is fumbled
3 hit the WR who drops it
4 badly miss the receiver
5 get sacked
6 get sacked and fumble

Only 1 out of 6 is any good, and it isn't happening at a high enough percentage of those dropbacks for me to be confident yet. JJ gave us that, plus the scramble, and for that reason alone, I actually had more confidence in him. When you started to see a play break down with JJ, you knew he might bolt out for a 15 yd gain, and so it wasn't over yet. When it starts to break down with Mett, you just scream "throw it away!" a lot, and hope we stay on offense
