He fricked us with Florida before that. Credit Mainieri, he stuck with the guy until something had to be done.

Watkins has to sit next year, no way we dont find someone better to replace him. He should basically be a guy we put in during blowouts or to pinch run.

Horrible fielder and since his injury in 2010 has been an automatic out just about. Alex Edward simply outperformed him this year and that's concerning.

Mainieri made the call to keep him in during the bottom of the 9th when we were down a run. Basically Watkins took three strikes looking then Mainieri then had Jacoby (one of our hottest hitters at the time) bunt. Thats coaching but Watkins striking out didn't help matters. I think that was game 1 when Florida came back on us. Maybe game 2.

ETA: the criticism there was having him in during late game situations. Didn't make sense. The guy can't hit, much less move a runner over.

I'm talking over course of entire year.

Watkins hit .226 to Edward's .279, power numbers are almost identical and even with Watkins walking more Edward still had a higher OBP (.351 vs. .369)

actually, ty ross lead off the inning with a double, jones popped up a bunt trying to move him to 3rd, then watkins had the worst at bat of the year, looked completely disinterested

rhymes then grounded to 2nd or something

.226 is pretty pathetic. I think he was in the mid-low .250s before SEC play with a 400 on base percentage. It was evident the guy peaked IMO.
