Neither did I, but I go to the bars sometime where they usually bring about 50-100 fans. You should check it out. LINK

Thanks for the insults.
So let's see what we have learned here.
(1)Lafell and Toliver are the best two WRs in the conference.
(2)Neither Jones or AJ Green would have received serious playing time for a team that was beaten by their respective teams.
(3) Nobody on this board was worried about the play of RR against us if he went to Bama, only that it would have hurt us from a recruiting standpoint.
(4)Lafell is a lock for the first round despite leading the SEC in drops and Toliver, despite the fact that he has played only sparingly, is also a future first round lock not because of what he has done on the field but because of his "potential".
(5) That every responder has completely avoided the context of the original question and chosen instead to throw meaningless internet insults from the safety of their cubicle.

if Julio or AJ were at LSU, it would be LaFell #1 and Julio or AJ #2...both of them would easily pass up Terrance Toliver on the depth chart

I agree they would possibly pass him, but i don't agree with easily.

So let's see what we have learned here.
I don't get why this is so difficult for you: had Randle gone to Bama, he would have been a clear choice for their #2 WR alongside Jones. That would have meant he was likely to catch a good many passes in most of their games, likely including their game against us. Here, we have LaFell and Tolliver. LaFell is pretty solidly our #1 WR and would be even if Jones or Green were on our team (this year's version or last year's version). Randle is expected to compete with Tolliver for the chance to be the #2, but is expected to end up as the #3 because as a true freshman he is not likely to beat out the more experienced Tolliver. At Bama, however, he would have no one like Tolliver with whom to compete for the #2 spot alongside Jones. That's why he was expected to be a threat to us if he went to Bama. Just as Tolliver is expected to be a threat to the teams we play as our #2 WR.

I essentially said the same thing:
But when I read the disrespect thrown in Lafell's
direction, felt the need to solidify my post with
a little supporting opinion.

It seems to me you have had a little to much recruiting hype; when Tolliver signed, he was a positional #1 as well. Randle was a final day commit so the hype was intensified. Both Green and Julio, walking on our campus today, would be competing for the #3, (outside shot at #2) same as anyone expects of Randle. Lafell would still be the absolute #1 and Tolliver would still be the firm #2.

...in a "not that creative" run-first offense that hasn't produced 1 NFL WR in the last 10 years, with an untested QB that could take a long time to develop (JPW wasn't good until his 5th year)....I don't see why this is so hard for you?

Thanks Ironsides...
I think this thread proves, among other things, that LSU fans that post on this site have an inability to see things as they truly are a lot of the time. Instead, they just throw meaningless, bitch-like insults.
The best answer thus far as to why we project players like RR to do better if playing for the competition is WR depth. There is probably some truth to that as far as touches are concerned. However, Green and Jones are both vastly superior at this point to Toliver and I think Lafell too. I have provided objective support as well.

no, we just didn't want to not get him ourselves.

Again, my questoin is why is there a perception that a person will be more accomplished if they went elsewhere?
Because people by nature are negative, so if we lose someone, they will do SO MUCH better there.

Delta Doc do you realize that Lafell was an ALl-SEC reciever last year. He is the best WR in the SEC right now.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 2:47 pm to DeltaDoc
I don't agree with lumping Jones and Green together. Green, I think, is about on par with Randle and the #3 would be where they would fall.
Jones, on the other hand, is the most impressive freshman I have seen in SEC play in a long time. He has the potential to be a very, very special receiver Therefore, I think he would compete for the #2.
However, I don't believe he supplants a senior preseason All-American.

No doubt Lafell will be a beast, but he is not the caliber of receiver or AJ or Julio, or by recruiting prognostications, RR.
Toliver was just as highly rated as either coming out of high school. If we had not had all the receivers we had at the time, Bowe, Early, Davis, Lafell, we would have had to play him and maybe he would have had to step up and be productive.
