Dude times have changed the days of Bear Bryant are over with . This is the era of financial opportunity all this one heart beat is a joke it’s about the money . The percentage of college athletes that live below poverty 86 percent .
An agent offers you $250,000,000 or more to sign the answer good by team sport .

Never been discussed before.

Like LSU quit on the recruits they offered a scholarship to then told them to “look elsewhere” a couple weeks ago.
Works both ways. I’m tired of seeing this shite and these posts should be removed for redundancy and ignorance.

Yeah I never understood it. I wonder if those that think these players were justified agree that every single draft eligible player or those who are scared of the coronavirus should just quit. If the players that are behind those who chose to quit should they quit as well for fear of playing to many reps during practice and the season?

Up to each individual player. Each player has to make that decision for themselves.

Sure, instead of ‘opt out’, they ‘quit’.
Not knowing every situation, generalizing as ‘quitters’ is a stretch.

People defended fournette sitting out the bowl game but now the quitting term is justified seeing how he has turned out.
He’s turned out that way partly because he kept playing on an injured ankle the entire time he was here.
Sitting out of a worthless bowl game or a worthless season in this case to protect your livelihood is fine with me.
Especially since it angers the idiots who only care about their own entertainment

I was raised to never quit anything! I may not have done it again after it was over, but never quit! It's called commitment! Once you quit something it gets easier and easier to quit other things like school, marriage, jobs and sports teams be ause you don't get your way!

This year has truly been a disaster with covid and with the divisive politics in the summer. All fed into this opting out / quitting with new rules encouraging some of this stuff. Hopefully we can get back to some normalcy next year and tightening of back of some of these rules. Our incoming class is sick with talent and joins some awesome young players who just showed out at Florida. I’m not worried about o linemen as I firmly believe that the position will be addressed soon. The sky is the limit next year and for the foreseeable future. geaux Tigers!

I agree with you, quitter assholes.

This is just the beginning. Wait till Stingly opts out next year. The melt will be glorious

I wouldn’t even care much at this point.
Most players haven’t been actual students for years.
Many of them couldn’t even get into their schools on merit.
Transferring gets easier every year.
Money manipulates the system. Look at this year. The CFP 4 has already been decided. Today doesn’t even matter.
Social issues have invaded to a ridiculous degree.
And I don’t blame the kids for looking out for themselves. If people think the coaches and the schools are looking out for them, they are deluded.
I will still follow it and care but not like I used to.

I completely agree with this.

Why did you have to bring Trump into this discussion? No need to bring your political views onto the rant.

It’s quite simple. Opting out of the season prior to the season beginning is opting out. Opting out of playing once the season has begun and things aren’t easy is called QUITTING on your team.

The only one that bothers me is the Arik Gilbert situation. If his mind and heart are set on transferring then so be it. How does he even come back after quitting on his team AND being drug through the mud by his coach and former players?
The other guys like Marshall are looking out for their futures. Business Decisions. It’s a good thing there are other players who could get that valuable playing time and experience in a season that doesn’t mean Jack shite.

You’re probably one of those people that have been screaming “why is LSU the only program where players are opting out, our program is F’d” ... ole piss leading received opted out for today’s game. Same things for OSU China Hubbard last week. so that over-hyped mindset that opt outs only happened at LSU is wrong. Calm down little guy LSU will be ok. And throw rocks if/when you can say you never quit a job to pursue what you perceived as a better opportunity.

You can call them what ever you want but it doesn’t change the outcome. Time to move on. They did what they thought was best for their careers and the ncaa gave them the loophole to do it. It is what it is. Move on
