Good one X. Also, what is the competitive advantage Danny McCray gives us playing nickelabck over any cornerback on the roster? size vs speed presumably

I'm not gonna single out McCray- he has come under A LOT fire lately, understandably, and the last thing he needs is for someone else to bash him. He knows what he needs to do

X, no need to single out the players and bash them. They chose to come to LSU and play their hearts out. I dont see McCray going half arse, its the coaches putting him in the wrong positions.

Glad to hear that cause CT has blown many coverages too- I hang that on the coach as well but think DM may get singled out more than others.

"Coach, our defense has been sub par this year, and now its becoming the brunt of jokes by ESPN pundits and various media outlets. Its been rated as one of the biggest disappointments in college football this season. Where did our aggressiveness on defense go?

Coach Miles, I was in Fort worth Monday and ran into a guy named Dick Bumpas, and he apparantly is a coach over at TCU. I was wondering if you have ever heard of him. Thanks.

?- I would ask him how he, as a coach, goes about determining whether an ongoing problem is personnel, scheme, or coaching related...and at what point does he determine changes need to be made at how the team is addressing the issue

Answer- They feel they have the right players on the field. Felt the scheme would/will work if the players don't try to do too much, which they did vs UGA. Coaches evaluate themselves and need to do better.

Also said later that he evaluates things after the season in regards to any changes that may need to be made but at this time he has no plans to make changes.

basically...once they believe they have the right players on the field then they look at the calls...if the calls have succeeded before, then they try to determine why they didn't on a specific play...and in most cases it has been a player trying to do too much or something outside his responsibilities.

I asked this ...

quote:

"Coach, kind of a two-part related question regarding the defense ... we're all a little concerned with what's going on on the defensive side of the ball. I know that it would be counter-productive to make any moves mid-season and understand that you've got to support your guys, but if things don't get better what are your thoughts on making a change at DC at season's end and have you ever had any experience firing or demoting assistant coaches"

and got in a five-minute response this.... (obviously paraphrased, but this was the jist) ...

quote:

None of us are happy with what's happening on defense ... we've got to get better. I evaluate everything at the end of the season. I've done both (fired assistants and demoted assistants). But I stick by my guys and feel confident we're going to continue to improve all around and at this time I do not anticipate any changes. We're going to continue to get our young guys in position and continue to try to improve.
