These are facts:
LSU beat Alabama
Alabama did not win the SEC or their division
Oklahoma State won the Big12
Oklahoma State and Alabama had identical records
Oklahoma State played more ranked teams than Alabama
I can see the argument that LSU and Alabama were the two best teams, and I agree with that opinion. However, given the circumstances of 2012, I felt it should have been OSU-LSU given that OSU won their conference, arguably played a tougher schedule than Alabama, and Alabama had already lost to LSU. It should have been OSU vs LSU. BUT....It wasn't, and there's no changing it now.

Couple of things...I'm a bit torn about this because on the one hand I know if OKst had gotten in we would be owning our 3rd BCS championship by now...BUT! By us having to play Bama again that spurred the powers that be to install the playoff starting in '14 which is the silver lining to losing the CG. Almost worth the trade off.
I also don't subscribe to the opinion that "bama was the better team". They were better that night, but when the emotions were equal for both teams on 11-3 LSU won AT BDS! Now you can say that both teams should have been equally fired up for the BCSCG...but anyone that follows sports knows that isn't the case. The team that got beat earlier in the year has that chip on their shoulder and something to prove. They had almost 3 months to stew over getting beat at their home stadium in the game of the year. They were MUCH more intense and motivated for the rematch and that makes all the difference between teams that are evenly matched. Lucky them!
