Govt....I think you would be better off attending another bama away game. Jerry World season opener is nothing but a colossal money grab...the best seats are NOT available to the participating schools so 2/3rds of your seating is upper/upper deck, where you can't make out much of anything on the field and end up watching the entire game on a big screen tv...big whoop ! Hotels are outrageously overpriced as are ANY concessions you might purchase. The srrounding parking lots are expansive and about as shade free as you can find plus COSTLY. Tailgating is as spread out as I've EVER seen...by far my most costly and disappointing away game trip...EVER

Yes, that's what I've heard unfortunately. Luckily, I recently was invited to go along with the aforementioned co-worker who has a sister/brother in law living in a nearby DFW suburb so I think I'm going to have a free place to stay and gas money split evenly will only be about $60. It's hard to beat transportation and lodging for $60. I'm also going to load up on refreshments/drinks leading up to the game and will probably take it easy once in the stadium. I figure I can get out of the weekend at less than $250 which is remarkable given how expensive the place is. I'm a sucker for a good road trip though so I don't mind traveling somewhere without having great seats in hand. I'd have no other excuse to go to Jerry World so may as well put up with the hassle. I agree with your sentiment in theory though.

Went To both T A&M AND Oregon. It is a place worth seeing, once you have been there done that...unless you have great seats.. stay home,or bring a TV to the tailgate party.

I went to A&M and Oregon and had a great time at both. Sat in the level directly above the LSU band for the Cotton, and field level for Oregon. I felt both games were worth it; didn't tailgate for the Cotton, but had a sweet tailgate for Oregon on the first row! Glad we had fans set up though, since it felt like we were on the sun!

Bottom line: SRO tickets will get you in the door, no other guarantees.

Big thing to remember at that stadium is to get there early; it took me more than an hour to get through the lines for the security checks.

if do standing room only get there 2 hours before kickoff. I would try to snag one of those Miller Lite Club passes which gets you at the bar area around the tunnel.

Looks like Jerry knows he can get $90 for a standing room ticket for a Bama game.
