I fall into this group.
Because I think he is a good guy, I wanted to believe that he could do the job. I hated the hire at the time. It really made me even more pissed off at Saban for leaving when he did. Because he jumped ship so late, most of the big name coaches had already taken jobs (Meyer, Spurrier and even lard arse Weis). After LM won the championship in 2007 and continued to recruit well, I felt guilty for still not believing in the guy. I tried to convince myself and others that we were struggling through bringing along a young QB, which is certainly a tough thing to do. I blamed our recent trouble on the RP saga.
That is over now. His performance Saturday was both inexcusable and unexplainable. 17 seconds is an eternity. Maybe letting 5 seconds go before realizing that you are the coach and are responsible for stopping the clock. But 17?? I would be fired on the spot if I displayed that level of incompetence in my job, and rightfully so. I don't make $3.75M either.
Discipline reflects leadership, and to be a leader you have to be competent and in control. Unfortunately, we don't have that at the top right now.
I will always support the Tigers. Nothing will change that. However, I will no longer watch, listen or read anymore of Miles' bullshite, avoiding the question, coach's speak. Aside from the defense, which Chavis has done an admirable job of improving over the course of the season, nothing else has been fixed despite the weekly press conferences that all sound exactly the same. Penalties and play calling have not improved at all.
To answer your question, I don't think Miles has what it takes to get things going in the right direction. If I am wrong and he turns it around next year in Jefferson's Jr. season, nobody will cheer louder than me. If I was the AD, I would make a change before the bowl game regardless of the Arkansas outcome. There are a few highly qualified coaches who might be interested in a change of scenery after this season ends. I understand that the reality is that he will get another year.

Great Summation GeauxTigerTM.
I fell in the category of giving L.M. the benefit of the doubt for his first two years and his accomplishments. I had hope that he would continue to improve. This he hasn't done and it is becoming more evident as his teams that play for our LSU Nation take the field each game since he got his new contract making his $4 M p/yr.
The talent on this team is more worthy of a true teacher of the sport, a H.C. that will teach them to be fundamentally sound and competive agains the best competition. HIs hard headedness has driven a spike into my heart. I feel for the LSU Nation and fans that dole out their time and energy to continue to support L.M. and his lack of "WANT". The longer LSU keeps him as their H.C., he will make the Curly Hallman era look like Santa Clause arrived with presents galore. Otherwise, we are truly going to sink to a new low with this overpaid man as our H.C.
There is no emotion or passion exhibited by him when things go wrong. And the problem is things go wrong on the field of play with talent like this reminds me of a three stooges show. It is beyond ridiculous! Actions and the ability to apply what you've learned as a team representing a prestigious football team like LSU on the field is almost non existent.
I just had to chime in hear, because I don't get to listen to C.H. and his shows way up here where I currently live.
And for the Seniors and the other LSU players this coming Senior Sat. night in T.S. perform beyond the teaching curve form that three headed monster the O. Staff, to help preserve what DiNardo brought here, Saban help lift higher and L.M. was given his chance to continue it. Play hard and perform like a Tiger football team with a real "WANT TO WIN" Your individual talents and actions as team players, speak louder than the words that your get from your coaches

I fall into this group as well. I'm not sure there is a way to get me back on board. The same mistakes have plagued LSU for 5 years. The talent bailed the coaching staff out for long enough. Now it's not happening, and it seems we're settling into our "rightful" place with Miles as coach.
It's a shame, because I think he's a great guy who really cares about his players. There hasn't been an off field incident in ages, and the ones that did happen were punished or dismissed from the team.
But I have to say that I've been wrong all this time. This is a reactive and not proactive coaching staff. And there is no indication that it will ever change.
I hope things change, but I don't have faith that they will.

I like the guy and will say he us an excellent recruiter. However something has changed in him. The passion, energy, and balls he had in 2005-2007 is gone. He plays not to lose and way to cautious. Example: how many fake punts/ FG did we execute in 2005-2007? Now how many the last two years?
I will always appreciate what he has done for LSU, but I would like to geaux shopping for a new HC.

This is the kicker. I cannot believe that this guy has rissen to the point he has but is unable to anticipate potential areas of concern. The things most people handle without much thought at all are what he seems to blunder ALL THE TIME. Timeouts? Give me a break.
It took a lot for me to fall off the wagon. When I fell, I fell hard. Not sure I'm getting back on.

we need to see les improve as a coach if he stays. from the players that he allows on the field to the play calling and game managemnt.
He is what he is, we have seen him with all of his warts and flaws. The emperor has no clothes. The guy is the biggest blockhead and stubborn idiot on the planet. He's so busy trying to channel Bo fricking Schembechler he doesn't even pay attention to the x's and o's of coaching. He thinks he and his teams can get by on 'grit', 'resolve', and 'determination' alone. He simply doesn't get it, he never has gotten it, and he never will get it. Anyone who expects him to suddenly 'get better' is simply pissing in the wind.

that is what it will take for me...
that happens... im back on board

Great point,
Here's what gets me back on. Him showing me he knows what's wrong and FIXING IT!
Last year we new the co-coordinators on D wasn't working, and he sat by and watched the season crumble instead of being a f'ing man and announcing soomething minor, like relieving ONE of them of his duties.
Same with this year, we are the worst team (close to it) in the nation on offense!!! THE WORST!!!! I need him to grab the microphone and say Crowton isn't getting the job done and he has demoted him and put Porter (example, enter any name you think worthy) in charge of playcalling!!!
We are one of, if not THE most talented team in the country on offense, and we are ranked better than only 9 teams!
I'm like you, if I here the question-dodging MF Miles say "he desired" or "our want" or "we're wanting to improve" etc., one more time I'm gonna hang myself from the shower rod!!!
He lied all week instead of being a MAN. He explained everything he could after 2 days of writing a script for everyone to follow. But the clueless a hole failed to say why he was asking his police escort after the game if we had timeouts left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you believe it? We pay him 4 million and he buckled under the pressure! I think he has buckled many times, we were just lucky that those screw ups worked and we disregarded the truth, he CHOKED!
Staying staus quo till the end of the year when you know it's not working is rediculous. Our offense has sucked for 2 years and he made NO staff changes, just let Crowton screw it up more.

Nothing. He is dead to me (tongue-in-cheek). I wanted Hallman gone in '92. Having him around another 2 years was a toxic plague on the program. Reasonable people can disagree about Miles, but I am saying we are in the situation again.

FWIW, Skip did not want a big name guy. He wanted someone that would play 2nd fiddle to him and not challenge his authority.
His ego was tortured by Saban working directly through Emeritt and bypassing him.

- I was extremely frustrated with Miles saturday. I think He needs one more year and if improvement doesn't occur fire him.
He has to get a really good offensive staff together which should give us a shot at the NC.
-All of you guys are right he has to start working on the (little things)Saban, Carrol and Meyer are proactive. These guys fix a problem if it happens more than once also they chew out players if they screw up. Miles is reactive if the problem gets so bad your wife or girlfriend can can point it out and we start losing games OH!! IT's time to fix it LOL.
SUCH AS
*time management ex. (time outs)
*plays being sent to qb gets to the huddle crisp and
* sloppy play fewer offsides penalties

I agree with most everything on here, but one thing not mentioned is how in the last two years we are not physical on the line of scrimmage, injuries are up, and leadership on the player's part is nonexistent. One thing you could count on under our former Coach was you were beat up after playing LSU. He has done the same at his new employer. We have the same strength and conditioning Coach in place, so what is it? Are the current Coaches not DEMANDING enough? Physicality and toughness are as much a mindset as the ability. We play complacent, and it's sickening...even on a much improved defense, often times guys stand there while a solo tackle is being made. Whatever happened to 11 hats meet at the ball? (oops, except HB passes) Offensively, we never stick to anything...
Lastly, the Les speak is not cute anymore..."We yearn for the taste of victory"... I'm still pissed that he didn't go apeshit over the Bama fiasco, and maybe if he had, I could MAYBE try to believe some of the nonsense he's been stammering all week. I honestly don't think he can recover from this. I just hope we aren't too rundown when the administration finally has enough.

response to hm buckling under pressure. Miles didn't buckled under pressure. He made a stupid mistake Albiet boneheaded. Dude has proved one thing he goes for it late in the game and has won alot of games late. what is biting him in the butt is preparation. We'll he change?? Miles knows he's fired if we suck next year so let's see. Teams preparation and execution have sucked.
The best thing LSU can do is clean house on the offensive side of the ball. If LSU averages 10 points more a game we are undefeated. Miles has to hire a great.
*OC, OL coach, (QB coach-who will stay on the
sidelines to help our Qb's focus).
