re: Question about Alabama v. LSU Schedule

For a more informative answer to your query:
Each team has one permanant opponent from the other division: LSU-Florida, Alabama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, and so on. This is mostly due to the tradition some of these teams have of playing each other for a long time.
We also play another team from the other division on a rotational basis, home and then away for a team, then another team rotates in for two years. That was the case until Texas A&M and Missouri joined the conference.
As a part of the transition with adding two teams to the conference, this year they are using a "bridge schedule" which does not follow the normal rotation for our second other division opponent.
A lot of people are upset by this because Bama was scheduled to play Georgia under the regular rotation, but instead we are playing Georgia and Bama was given a weaker team to play. Many consider this unfair, particularly as the guy in charge of making the "bridge schedule" was a Bama graduate.

I will not repost this on the SEC rant, though I appreciate the suggestion that I do so. I read some of the posts there over the last few days.
The fans of other teams seem to be rude at times. They take sideways slurs at LSU, pretending to be nice. It is my goal to be the most polite poster here so I do not want to participate in that.

Thank you Psychtiger for your comments and to everyone who posted a reading suggestion. I must truly be back to work now, but thank you again.

That shouldn't be hard.

I've never seen someone so polite on any of these boards. Mission accomplished already, sir.

Sir that was delightful glad to have you aboard!
But to the suggestion that you re-post on the SECr, it's prob not a good idea! It has been discussed at length, and the "gumps" (Bama fans if you don't know) will make you hate them. Save yourself the trouble the hate will come naturally over time anyway....

IMO he's a good man looking for insight on the passion many of us love so dearly. Help him out!
Agreed. We were all newbies to LSU football (sports) at one time or another.

I just ordered "Ole War Skule" online. I cannot wait to receive it and watch it.
I browsed the SEC rant. I found the Alabama fans were often quite rude.
Again, thank you for spending your time providing me with information.

Shut up and give your ticket to me since you know nothing about LSU!

A "must read" for any LSU fan is "The Fighting Tigers: 100 Years of LSU Football" by Pete Finney. He was a sportswriter in New Orleans back in the 1950s and 60s, and probably started even earlier. He researched practically the entire history of LSU football and published his first edition in 1968 (subtitled "75 years of LSU Football"). He gives a tremendous amount of detail and includes many old photographs. He tells the story of just about every season, often with an insider's point of view. You will really enjoy reading about the Huey Long era in LSU's history. He was amazing (once, he even tried to appoint a group of LSU football players to the Louisiana State Senate!). In the back, there is a listing of every season's games and results. I think the 1993 Edition ("100 years of LSU Football") was the last one he did.
My parents gave me the 1968 edition when I was a child, and I enjoyed it over a period of several years. I read it cover-to-cover more times than I could ever possibly count. I practically had the chart in the back memorized.
Link to the 1993 edition (100 years of LSU football), a bit expensive on Amazon but maybe cheaper elsewhere

Do you live in the apartments just north of LSU?

A big factor in the bias in the SEC office that seems to always favor Alabama is that nearly the entire SEC office is made up of Alabama graduates, some of whom played football there or are Alabama natives. The head SEC ref is an Alabama alum as is the guy (Womack) who does the schedules. They've been the least penalized team (by far) for the past several years and have an incredibly soft schedule this year in a "bridge" year. Get the picture?
