Hard to believe Tulane was once in the SEC, but then so was Ga. Tech...

Dude that is so stupid. Put any school in the SEC and they would eventually start recruiting better talent and then yes start winning more games. Give Tech an SEC budget to improve facilities and build a fan base of an SEC school and soon all that changes in time. Right now its like comparing apples to oranges so stop being so ignorant.

Agreed...But you got some Techsters saying LSU is heading down, and La Tech is heading up...

I graduated from LSU and my brother graduated from Tech...I hear the Penis Envy all of the time....

Tech would need a lot more than a SEC budget to improve those facilities.

I cannot think of a better way to waste money than to give it to tech...

It's true, you're an idiot if you don't think LSU's football team has some serious coaching problems. Does that mean I think La Tech is going to catch LSU? Hell no. But I see LSU going back to the DiNardo years in a few seasons.

As someone that went to both schools and is a fan of both schools that is exactly how is see it. Tech is recruiting better athletes and is on the rise. and I am sorry but I almost felt sorry for Les last night. LSU is heading in the wrong direction. Now will they ever meet in the middle never, but they are heading in opposite directions.

Not many coaching "problems" when Miles took the Trophy, eh?

RP stays out of jail and we're in the thick of things...You can't coach a terrible QB in JL...Ain't gonna happen.

As far as going back to the DiNardo years, we ain't going back there...We're in the upper tier now thanks to Saban. We may slip like the last couple years, but we'll always have good recruits now.

So...Take your nay-saying and transfer to Tech....

"Tech is recruiting better athletes and is on the rise."

LSU will get the recruit every time vs Tech. You're in a fantasy world if you don't believe that.

Tech used to be top notch with Roger Carr, Denny Duron, Pat Tilley, Roland Harper..etc...But they ain't got it now...Money talks and LSU has it.

What point are you trying to win idiot. That LSU is better. I admit that and yes why wouldn't a top recruit pick LSU over Tech. I just said the programs are going in the opposite direction but I also admitted they would never meet in the middle. Les is not a great coach. So far he has proven only to be a great recruiter. And he took that trophy on the sheer luck that everyone else sucked as bad that year. He lost two games to unranked teams moron. He can thank everybody else losing for him even being in that game. Do you ever see a two loss team getting in again. I am not complaining because I was a student at LSU and love them but LES looked just sad on those sidelines last night. and that aint good for LSU. And you started this stupid assinine thread about putting Tech in the SEC. Well listen up if Tech were in the SEC they wouldn't have been playing LSU with these caliber athletes. If Tech were in the SEC they probably would be playing in front of at least 50 thousand people in Ruston. If Tech were in the SEC they would be receiving BCS money that would enlarge the stadium and increase the recruiting budget. I mean really where would Mississippi St be if they were in the WAC. Figure it out.

I guess that's "Tech Math" at work...

How can a 3 and 7 record be going up? And LSU's record - playing in the most difficult conference - is 8 and 2? Dude...Not sure where you're comin' from...

You've lost to Navy, Idaho, and Utah State and YOU'RE GOING UP????

Dayum!

He's saying relative to the past, not relative to LSU.

Probably in the same position as Tech...in the middle or near the bottom. So, that shows you where Tech would be if they had the budget of an SEC team? Near the bottom of the conference?

You may be reading too much into what Tech fans are saying. There is still a talent gap between the teams. And, of course, LSU has about 100 x's more money than Tech. All Tech fans are saying is this:

2003: 49-3 (at halftime)
2007: 58-10 (starters played 3 quarters)
2009: 24-16 (came down to on-side kick at end)

How else should we take this?

I'm pretty sure they are talking programs, not specific games...

And 3 and 7 is hardly going up vs and 8 - 2...

So, this is a step up?

2007: 5-7
2008: 8-5 (with a bowl win)
2009: 3-7 (so far)

Don't get me wrong, I think Dooley is going to end up being a pretty good hire for Tech in the long run, but it seems like you guys have taken the step back.

What are you basing this off of? The fact that they beat Bama in 1999 or Mississippi State in 2008?

It was obviously a step up from 2007 to 2008. We are about the same in 2009 as we were in 2008. We won 3 games that could have gone either way in 2008 and we lost them in 2009. The record looks worse, but the quality of play was about the same. We still need a QB and a playmaker at WR to take the next step... which is winning the WAC.
