I believe it is widely assumed that Stingley will be returning punts for us this year. I know he’s gonna be a superstar but a huge factor early on in the year may be not having any turnovers on punt return. We all saw how much a bad punt returner can ruin a huge phase of the game last year. Anyone else worried that we may have problems early on with this?

I’d put Chase back there personally.......but I don’t get paid millions to make that decision

Stingley worth the growing pains if he has any.

If Stingley is the guy back there then I'm sure that it is because they feel really confident in his ability to not turn it over.

Im glad we have a warm up game because I don’t believe he’s worth the growing pains in a close game to Texas

Let’s hope the coaches don’t keep doing the same thing over and over.

The good thing is I dont think we can regress as compared to last year. If someone can catch the ball 9 out 10 times we will improve.

I've been following LSU football since 1990 and last year was only time I recall LSU not being at least a small threat in the PR game.

There is always going to be some risk regardless of who is returning punts. Giles and Jefferson each only had ONE lost fumble on a punt return all season. It's just that the seemingly happened at huge moments and in the last two games of the season. Thus, they are more fresh in the memory.

Vs. A&M LSU had just erased a 10 point and seemed to have all the momentum after forcing an A&M punt. Giles fumble killed that momentum and allowed A&M to go back on top. Still, LSU overcame the fumble and seemingly won the game

Same thing in the Fiesta Bowl. LSU had erased an 11 point deficit and seemed to be on the verge of blowing UCF out (up 34-21 late in the 3rd). Jefferson's fumble seemed to keep UCF in the game, but they only got a FG out of the mistake.

The issue with Giles wasn't his "fumble problems", because he only lost one all season. It was that he was no threat whatsoever for a big return. If Stingley provides that threat, then I'm willing to live with the risk of a fumble or two.

Never understood why they didn't give Dillon a chance to focus 100% on being a KR or a PR.

because he doesn't have the hands for it? He has the worst hands in the WR corps.

Amazes me that they didn’t try Chase, Delpit or Greedy back there.

I'll say this...

If Giles was our best option last year, then I think Stingley will be just fine back there. Giles was terrible.

When we're back in our own territory, sure, put the most sure handed guy you have back there.

If we're receiving the ball in good field position, put Weapon X back there.

He has HORRIBLE hands. He catches everything with a cradle to the body. I don't see how people don't realize this.

They opted for the "safe" option last year with Giles. Hopefully this year they won't have to make that decision because someone will step up and be sure handed while also being a threat.

Would be cool to see Ika or Shelvin back there returning some punts.

Cause catching punts is hard. And as you saw in the A&M a turnover is costly
