Playing at Tulane, during a noon game, when they first got their turf infield, was retarded hot. They made us wear molds, which were considerably thinner than our spikes. It felt like I was playing on lava. Once my feet went numb I was good.
yeah turf is no joke with how hot it can get. I remember being on a turf field near Dallas in the middle of August and thought my shoes were about to melt

Multiple colleges in Louisiana have turf baseball fields.

McNeese softball has it. LSU played them this year and the game was on TV. It was raining on and off during the game, so the field was slick. McNeese girl tries to steal 2nd and she literally hydroplaned about 10 feet past the bag on her head-first dive and was tagged out

Pros:

Keeps it's integrity throughout the season.
Less maintenance
Great for climates unlike South Louisiana.

Cons:

Terrible in rain.
Get's incredible hot in direct sunlight.
Looks like shite on a wedding dress if not done properly.

Will reserve my opinion until I hear Joe Burrow's thoughts about it.

Seems to me from all the comments that the only cons are it's not "traditional", it gets hot, and plays bad in wet weather.

But the temp highs are only suppose to be in the 60's and 70's this weekend in Oregon and no real chance of rain so it should be a perfect weekend to play on turf.

Tulane baseball has full turf
ULL baseball has full turf
McNeese baseball has the infield and down the foul lines
SLU baseball has the infield and down the foul lines

Doesn’t northwestern have turf infield? I know they had AstroTurf a few years back in the infield

The ball doesn't bounce right off the turf. it either skids along the turf without any hops or it takes huge moon-gravity hops.

You cannot play much baseball in the spring out here in the NW if you don't have a turf field...

Agreed. Been in the PacNW for about 10 years now, and you don't see nice baseball weather until late-April/early-May. All-turf (or partial-turf) fields are pretty common. The community college I work for just made the switch a couple years ago to a turf infield with grass outfield. Players seem to like it.

OSU’s field is all turf. Do you prefer an all turf field or think grass and dirt is better?

I think everyone's preference is to have traditional grass and dirt baseball field. Given a huge budget for maintenance, OSU would have it that way.
