Did he though? He started 5 or 6 games and the offense didn't miss a beat. I understand it was against weaker competition but he still wasn't a clear liability imo.

And to expect a true freshman to come in and beat him out is pretty laughable imo.

Flott will play nickel he has great change of direction and agility the slot is becoming more and more important to defend.

If Charles stays, yes, he starts. Rosenthal is the 3rd man to back up Charles and Deculus.

Ricks is not gonna start day 1. He’s a stud, but is not Stingley and will take some development.

It would be like expecting Brennan to be Burrow next year

Call me crazy, but I feel like McMath is going to start over Palmer or Boutte. He blocks well, knows his assignments, and has proven to be explosive. When Marshall went down he was the only guy who's playing time saw a big jump so the trust is there. I can see a scenario where Chase goes to the slot, Marshall takes Chase's spot, and Racey slides in to Marshall's role seeing that's the spot he was most successful in this season

Nickel is Flott
CB 2 is Ward or RaydRious Jones

Do we know if Justin Thomas has stayed in good graces with opp to return?

Kary hasn't decided to leave yet. If he stays I agree Flott still starts but on the outside. If he goes I think they roll with a safety heavy look. With Stevens, Harris, and Lewis all coming back and Mo Hampton proving he can handle the middle of the field, I can see Harris or Lewis in that slot role until Ricks or Ward (possibly McGlothern) prove they can handle the playing time

Great post
Deculus is staying and Moss hasn’t declared. Rosenthol will probably start LT. I can’t see Gaye playing much next season. DE will be Logan and Cherry or Farrell. I think Webb will beat out Anthony unless he steps up. Vincent will be N if he stays, if not it will be Flott. Stevens will probably go back to S unless the OLB isn’t what we’re hoping for. Clark will be one ILB but I have no idea who the other will be... could be Starks, Baskerville, Sampah, or White. I look for a surprise inside like Clark was

Jacoby Stevens coming back is a game changer for next years defensive potential. I think he can be a shorter version of Isaiah Simmons utilized all over the field and can anchor our defense physically and mentally similar to Devin White. I suspect that was the role pitched to him by the coaches to come back and develop him into a top 15 pick next year.

OP needs to add Deculus, Logan, and Stevens back in. Potentially Chassion.

Flott has all the tools to be the starter but he needs to put on some weight so he can be effective jamming receivers. That physicality was crucial to our success in man to man and cover 1 situations this year.
