Everyone keeps saying that he should have come back. Jones was never strong academically. Can anyone confirm he actually had the grades to come back?

He should have stayed one more season. But I don't believe in the bench press as a true measure for football players. I'd like to see the squat lifts used moore. Leg strength is more important for football in the trenches.

The scouts take on him makes sense. The times I have cussed Chad Jones for sloppy tackling far out number the times I have cheered him for doing something great. If he applied himself more I'm sure that wouldn't be the case.

If he needs Tommy John after the amount of innings he pitched last season, that is just sad.

i don't know why in the hell he didn't stay here, play baseball this season .. see where he goes in the draft .. and then use football as his bargaining chip if anything ...

Totally agree, but sometimes that money gets in your head.... I wish him the best...

I'm surprised a 6'2 220 pound football player couldnt do more than 9, yes.

that is pathetic unless he is injured, but if he was injured, he should have not benched at all.

hell when I was 24 I could bench 225 pounds 12 times and I only weighed 175.

Inexcusible for a top flight football player.

Jeez, what else did Chad do wrong while in Indy? Did he flood his hotel toilet, get nabbed for jaywalking downtown, use the inside fork instead of working outside in?

I still think he should have focused on baseball. Why risk your neck in football when you can have a longer career and possibly make more money in baseball?

But, I'm not Chad Jones

I dont follow college baseball but watched him pitch a little in the series last year. He was very effective. How much baseball has he played? Does he play other positions or just pitch and how sure of a thing is he to be a good player at the next level? Just curious

He was drafted out of high school by the Astros.

I agree with some of the above posters - I never felt like he brought it every play. He sometimes appeared to avoid contact.
