I don’t see it getting better next season but coach Mainieri isn’t getting fired. It is what it is. If the product is below average then stop going to the games.

This could be two seasons in a row without 40 wins: 25+ losses, and no postseason games at Alex Box.

LSU last 124 games : 74-50 (.597)

You kinda think the odds would be in our favor to eventually turn this around. Idk

You lose Lawrence, Delpit, Burrow, Fulton and another couple key pieces and it changes everything

Major lesson in life. shite happens. Learn to accept and deal with it. That is the mark of a man.

Life Lesson two. Don’t put any faith in preseason polls. They are usually wrong.

So you're saying that if all of our guys stay healthy, we still get shite rocked? GTFO with that.

And this is just a ridiculous statement. Only Hilliard, Beck and Walker on a bad day throw below 90.

Here's a thought...If Pawl doesn't want to go out recruiting, coach hitting or pitching then get rid of him. We can only pay 2 assistants and right now they are pitching coach and recruiter/3B coach. We have former player volunteer assistants coaching hitting and it shows. Time for him to change or get someone else in who can contribute more than making bad coaching decisions and whining in the dugout/throwing players under the bus.

Yeah. Woodward needs to give him an opportunity to turn it around. But that begins with cleaning house.

i agree he won't be fired.

last season was his mulligan. this was supposed to be the year everything came together.

i appreciate everything he has done for LSU. won a title and has been a first class representative of the school.

but sometimes it's just best for everyone to make a change.

Certainly this year has been a disappointment relative to preseason expectations. Also, we all know that program expectations at LSU are higher than most, if not every single college baseball program in the country. It comes with the territory of being the LSU HC.

That said, it's hard to argue that anyone else in the country has performed BETTER than Mainieri during his time at LSU. No coach has played in MORE CWS finals than Mainieri. Only Pat Casey and Ray Tanner have more national titles than Mainieri during that time and both are now retired. O'Sullivan has more CWS appearances than Paul during that time period. But even he is not immune to a poor season (just look at this season).

Could LSU do better? Maybe. But I don't think that is a 100% sure thing. Certainly not enough to warrant eating a huge buyout (relative to college baseball) to test the waters right now.

If LSU is at risk of missing the NCAAT next year, then I think you will have to begin to ask if the PM era has run it's course.

We are constantly running out guys who top out at 92 and average 89, have you watched the last 5 years? Hess and Lange (who still didn’t go much higher than 90-92) are the only power arms I remember.
Meanwhile Florida, Vandy, ole miss, cow bells are trotting out freshman throwing gas.

Using injuries to justify another garbage season............ smdh

Are we watching the same team? Hess, Peterson, Marceaux, Fontenot, Henry and Hill were all staying 91 and above. That's just this year.

And how is this not a justifiable excuse? You can't perform up to expectations with half the team on the bench. I'm not saying CPM is not to blame for some of the faults, but anyone can see there were more factors in play.

Where have all the injuries been on the offensive side of the ball bc that is where this team has lacked leadership and been downright brutal?

Throwing 90 is not special anymore, these kids see 90mph on their JV high school squads in backwoods Texas.

Pretty much the entire SEC has a plethora of arms out of the pen and even starters constantly staying above 95.

And EVERY team has injuries, no it’s not a justifiable excuse. Def something Pawl would use though.

Can you name for me the teams that have a plethora of 95 mph arms out of the bullpen?

Can you tell me which hitting categories have been brutal compared to the entire SEC? We rank about midway through each hitting category. It's not elite, but it definitely isn't brutal.

The difference in being number one and 5th in the SEC may not be as big as it sounds. We are 2-2 vs Mississippi State. State took two out of three from Vandy.

Average, situational hitting, risp, scoring from third? Just about every metric shows us in the top 3rd of the SEC.

No.... I don’t watch these teams, I just see them when they play LSU. They all have multiple arms touching mid 90s and we trot out 91 Landon marceaux

Which teams have you seen LSU play that have trotted out a plethora of 95 mph+ arms? Stop talking out of your arse.
