He should get Herman and Harbaugh money at least. He has won a title by bringing in people that revamped the offense. No CEO didn't revamp the offense but he knew he needed people to do it. He is a great recruiter, this is his dream job and he is a Louisiana guy.
Now, he should get paid for winning the title and putting a staff together that got it done. So I'm comfortable with $6 million & incentives.
Heck you could give him Jimbo money and I'd be OK with it. But you have to have money for top OC and DC. It wouldn't surprise me if CEO takes less so there is more money to pay DC's and OC's. He knows he doesn't want to go anywhere else, he isn't using this as a stepping stone, so why wouldn't he take $1 million less than Jimbo or Herman and LSU can have a little more to play with when getting staff.

Well, in looking at the comparable salaries, his team just beat #1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. He hasn’t won multiples, but he should be approaching something close to Jimbo (and better than Kirby).
You get a little discount with Ed as this is where he wants to be and he is smart to know that he needs quality assistants.

that's what makes it tough. is $6M insulting? we're about to open the vault for an OC (if we don't promote Munoz)
the entire "Orgeron model" is to underpay the HC to use that money elsewhere. sure $3.5M is way under value now but how do we find the "O model" market value?
it's not about "screwing over" a loyal coach. this is literally the vision he sold LSU on in 2016 and what worked in 2019

good will is worth money
i think getting into the Jimbo territory is pushing it though. just look at one coach slightly below that range: Malzhan. he was O for the Auburn fanbase and they're stuck with him b/c his buyout is insane (and he's just good enough to "save" his job). we want to avoid that
Dabo, Saban, and Harbaugh are market outliers

I wouldn't pay him any more. I'd be shocked if he has success without Burrow and Brady. I think we caught lightning in a bottle this year, and expect him to regress to his mean. I want to see him do it without a premier QB and playcaller, then we'll talk contracts. I still think we'll have a new HC by 2025
You and the 4 who upvoted you (can guess who they are) can eat shite

I would say Harbaugh is an outlier. Dabo and Saban combine for 7 of the last 11 national titles. To me, those two guys are a clear tier above everyone else in terms of value.
Agree on the buyout.. I think minimizing the buyout should be a priority.

Just won the national title. Of course they'll go up some but not a crazy amount. Donations will go up which will easily take care of larger staff budget and giving Ed his fair share for what he brought LSU.

Fair enough. I thought you meant outlier in the sense that they are paid more than their market value.

Orgeron gonna get somewhere in the neighborhood of 6M, Aranda going to get 3M if he stays.

5.5 to 6 sounds about right. Still need a substantial reserve to pay for a new OC and top assts...and shadow staff

Stick with the current model and give him yuuuuge bonuses for hardware.

Harbaugh is overpaid for his performance but it's a unique situation (they had to pry him away from an NFL team and he's the prototype "Michigan man" which is an idiosyncratic thing with their fanbase/admin)
and yeah Dabo/Saban deserve it. when O does what Dabo does, he can ask for $9M
