I wouldn't pay him any more.

I'd be shocked if he has success without Burrow and Brady.

I think we caught lightning in a bottle this year, and expect him to regress to his mean.

I want to see him do it without a premier QB and playcaller, then we'll talk contracts.

I still think we'll have a new HC by 2025

We don’t have to pay him absurd money to keep him....so why would we? He has great variable clauses that pay him a ton for achieving greatness.

We are past the point of being able to ask who else is going to offer him more money. He’s now one of 6 active coaches with a national title, and one of 3 with a title in the CFP era. The head coaches of Purdue, Northwestern, USF, Nebraska, and Iowa are all paid more than Orgeron. Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Pitt, Louisville, NC State, Vanderbilt, Houston, USC and Illinois are all within $1 MM.

It’s not a stretch to think at least one of those schools would view a coach with back-to-back top 5 recruiting classes and a national championship as an upgrade. The relevant questions now are:
- Is Orgeron willing to accept less than market value to stay at LSU?
- If so, should LSU take advantage of this?

IMO, you’re either going to see Orgeron get a raise, the salary pool for assistants go up, or both.

It's crazy that Scott Frost was given an extension and the large sum of money they've given him.

They were everyone's sleeper this year. The problem Nebraska has is that this isn't the 80s or 90s anymore and that isn't exactly what most would consider fertile recruiting grounds these days. They are at a disadvantage to teams in states like Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Georgia etc now.

You probably posted that he’d never win a National Championship and would be fired by now when he was hired.

Yet, here we are. Take a lap.

I hope O remains on the lower end ...too much pressure on the program when you step North of 5 or 6 million....

I'm not saying he hasn't earned it...but 4 million is already huge pay...

Money isn’t the driving factor for CEO. If he pushes for a raise, then he would get it. However, LSU shouldn’t press the issue. Ed is in his dream job and everyone knows it.

Ed is going to get paid what he wants, as he should. Ed may present as the hometown boy living his dream, but let’s be real, would you leave any money on table? Ed won’t either.

I don’t expect him to leave money on the table but LSU doesn’t have to proactively raise the topic.

O was hired at his salary with incentives for performance because he was to build the best assistant staff in America around him. He did and we were successful because of the staff he built. To continue being successful we need to continue paying to have the best assistant staff in America. He needs to make his current contract with incentives.

He should be paid market value. We shouldn't underpay the man because we think he's loyal to LSU. If he's willing to take a little less so there's more money for assistants then great.

I think you have to get him around $6 mill or $6.5 which gets him in the Top 10.

He’s earned it. I’d say 5 years

1. $6.00
2. $6.25
3. $6.50
4. $6.75
5. $7.00

Keep the incentives the same.

What's the point of incentives if you are giving people new contracts every time they meet an incentive?

I think a 50% raise is fair. It's what Jimbo got after the 2014 season when he had his second straight playoff apperance. So $6m a year plus incentives.

I’ve heard the stories.. invested well and whatnot. But money can be a factor without being the driving factor. He’s got three sons, who will presumably have children of their own someday. I’m sure Ed knows he has an opportunity to build generational wealth for his family.

Guys like Bill Belichick, Pete Carrol, and Gregg Popovich are all way past doing it for the money, but they are still getting their market value.

Well of course LSU isn’t going to press him for a raise. But Orgeron doesn’t have to push the issue either. That’s what agents are for - to do the dirty work so that the coaches can focus on football.
