That ignores the fact that the 6-2 lost to #1-2 and the 7-1 team has played no one of that caliber. Against teams not in a position to make the CFP currently, both teams have one loss. Both have win over a 5-3 SEC team, but LSU also beat Florida. Combine all that with the head-to-head and the CFP got it right.
