Comp round pick
3 years in minors trying to make it as a starter
Brought up in year 4 as areliever
He'll stay in the show until he runs out of minor league options

Gauss has something like a 6.38 ERA this season and is being roasted by local press.

Yeah, not the best start for the opening day starter. He's really puzzling to me. His stuff is off the charts.

Truly impossible to predict. Alex was a great pitcher his freshman year and he has been a good pitcher since, but college baseball is like low A ball.

Is this where I jump in and say I'd be surprised if he's drafted before the 30th round....?

Man, there is quite a lack of confidence in this thread. His breaking ball is filthy when he can command it, he has good velocity on his fastball, and is working on a change up. He won't be Nolan Ryan, but I believe he will have a successful career in the majors. Mid 1st round, 2 or 3 years in the minors before getting called up, and the rest is rock n roll history.

Consistency.... Until he has it he's an early pick with potential. I am hoping he can gain consistency but if he can't there are a lot of minor league bus rides in his future.
