They have the best QB and RB in the SEC. Return a lot of contributors and upgraded several positions via the portal. I get the hype. Their schedule is more challenging this season. I think that affects them more than anything.
They also lost their offensive coaching staff, the same staff that coached their playoff games.
And until he proves otherwise, I suspect that by the end Golding’s Ole Miss tenure will look more like Orgeron’s than Lane’s

Is there a particular reason that you think all of those guys are better?
quote:Nope. I also listed multiple other quarterbacks. I know you know exactly what I mean but are choosing to ignore it.
Also, does that mean that you believe that Ole Miss, LSU, and Oklahoma are the only teams that can be competitive in the SEC?
quote:Not really. They didn't lose any games by less than 7 points. The game they lost by 7 points wasn't even close until Ryan Day's press the breaks strategy almost bit him in the arse, and UT got away with a TD catch that likely wasn't.
Yeah but they didn’t. They also very easily could have made the playoff.
At no point were they a play away from making the playoffs or something. Again, if you watched college football last season, you'd know what I mean. So it's either you aren't really aware of how their games went or you're being a contrarian for fun.
quote:I mean, again, you know exactly what I mean when I say "compete in the SEC" for Texas. It's not UK's version of competing in the SEC. It's competing for a conference title. You cannot do that without a top flight quarterback OR an extremely easy schedule.
I just don’t see how going 6-2 in conference isn’t competitive.
You know you can make an actual argument instead of just being passive aggressive about semantics.

That’s fair. I typically value stats over eye test when it comes to college, but to each their own.

That’s why I asked the question, I didn’t know if you were including those other guys as well. I don’t have any reason to believe that Keelon Russell, Austin Simmons, or Gunnar Stockton are any more of a “game changer” than Arch.

We’ve seen it done multiple times in the past few years by teams like Georgia, Alabama, and Texas.
We’ll just have to agree to disagree I guess.
