I spoke with his mom and dad in Jacksonville at the tournament this year. Such a sad situation. Hang in there, Tre.

That's awful. By all accounts his father was his most important and impactful "coach" in working with him to one day get to the NBA. After all that work and all those years Tremont fulfills he and his father's dream of one day being drafted...only to have this happen mere weeks after the dream comes true. Such a heartbreaking story.

This is a loss I have not experienced in life yet. At 55 years of age I still have both parents. It's hard for me to imagine that feeling. we can all imagines such a loss, but until we actually experience it we can't get the full effects of the sorry and heartache that go with it. I know Tremont Waters is a very strong person and he has a long life of success ahead of him. It is sad his father will never get to see the level of success Tre will reach. I’m pretty sure it was said that his father was in poor health and it was one of the reasons Tremont was trying to go pro as early as he could.
