re: Prayer over PA before game in Tiger Stadium

Why should it bother anyone if they don’t believe? Put your earbuds in and stare at everyone while pondering why they believe and you don’t & live and let live. This is probably why there is prayer again at a state school.

Yea only difference is, The Christians century was like 1400, while "other" religions are evil in the 2010s

Wow... I hope you're being sarcastic here.
Personal healings - 0 evidence
Paranormal - 0 evidence
Laws of Thermo - has NOTHING to do with your god. And Science says "you're welcome"
Law of conservation of momentum - has NOTHING to do with your god. And Science says "you're welcome"
You are very, very, very mislead. I kind of feel bad for you.

To your question about requiring prayer in LSU classes, which no sane and rational person would believe is appropriate, Prayer over PA in TigerStadium is effectively a “requirement” that all people with ears that can hear the loudspeakers be subjected to a religious message that they may or may not believe in.
Put more succinctly: no one would be okay with prayer before all classes, so why should it be okay at a football game where actually MORE people with varying beliefs are exposed to it?
Our team is doing GREAT things on the field. Why in the world would we want to take any attention off of the student athletes and our on-field accomplishments by opening an “off-the-Field” can of worms that does not need to be opened. Religion has nothing to do with football. There are places built specifically for religion and expression of personal beliefs: churches and homes.
If someone wants to pray privately before the game, no one is stopping them from doing so. No need for a prayer over the loudspeaker.

"Because despite having zero evidence to support their claim and despite not being the majority of people in the world, Christians want to dictate what others can and can’t do. Being judgemental pricks is just in their nature."
J2? No evidence? You are kidding, right?
I'm sorry you believe Christians are judgmental. I claim not to be. I also hope and pray that one day you will experience God's amazing grace as I have.

It is always amazing when someone uses science to disprove something. Science, by its very definition is “the discovery of the unknown”, just because there’s no proof yet (that satisfies all) doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, it’s just undiscovered.

I'm agnostic and that doesn't bother me at all.

-would you be fine with LSU requiring a prayer before every class held at LSU?
-would you be fine with LSU allowing political endorsements over the Tiger Stadium loudspeakers?

Absolutely true - so one is either brainwashed, extremely naive, or dumb to believe in something that has no proof. Period. There are no ways around this.

that satisfies all
If you meant "all" as in people, this is a non sequitur. Proof isn't subjective. If you meant "all" as in criteria, then I agree.

Not offended. Just amused that this keeps getting attempted and keeps getting shut down.
There's a reason we haven't been doing this for a long time in Tiger stadium, and it sure as shite isn't because Dan Borne is an atheist.
It's far past time to stop giving in to the whiners. Giving in to them only makes them screech louder.
(General response to the thread)
I'm not a traditional Christian, and there was a time in my life when I was a woefully ignorant agnostic. What did I do when there was a moment of prayer? I kept my mouth shut because it doesn't matter. It in no way affects my life. I'm sorry that some people are so upset (not really) that this country was founded on Christian ideals and that Christianity/Catholicism is the predominant religion in Louisiana. If the majority of Louisiana was Muslim and said a Muslim prayer before the game, I wouldn't like it, but I would keep my mouth shut. Why? Because it doesn't affect my life one iota. The complainers are more annoying than the religious people.

Me grow up? You're conflating a racist men's club from the 60s to the oldest religion in the world? I'm supposed to judge people off of what people did 500 years ago? STFU

We hope for the protection of our players and safe travels for our visitors. Amen
This is about how I remember it....out of curiosity, where did you find the text, or video?

The Constitution says the State can't make someone put in ear buds to make you feel good about praying to a God they don't believe in,
What people fail to grasp is the Constitution protects the minority from the majority.
Just like the majority can't take away your guns, or shut up, the majority can't make someone pray.

Again, study your religion's history. This isn't close to being right.

No, when did I say this? You should judge a religion based on it's history. Islam, TO THIS DAY, has shed the least blood out of all the major religions.
Is Islam evil - you damn right.
Is Christianity any better - frick no.

I honestly think this is a great discussion.
A discussion That has no place in a football game.

Christianity is not the oldest religion in the world.
Judaism is older by centuries and Hinduism is probably also.
What some people fail to realize is Judaism and the Muslim faith both worship pray to the same God the Creator, which is God the Farther in Christianity,
It is the Christians who pray and worship a different God, Three Persons in One God, the Father,(Creator), the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Sprit.
Judaism and Muslim faiths acknowledge Jesus as a Prophet. They simply do not recognize Jesus as God or the Son of God
