Now compare that to softball over the last couple decades.

Why? When discussing if college baseball is growing or fading in support, what's the point of comparing it to a different sport? Wouldn't the better indication be comparing college baseball to college baseball?

I seriously doubt it.

Nothing about baseball is ruined for baseball fans.
I meant this set of rules has come about due to TV contracts. I attend the Astros games. I love going and visiting and watching baseball. It is pure to me. When I was able I attended every LSU baseball game.
On one hand TV has allowed me to watch teams that I wouldn’t normally get to watch. On the other, these rules are unnecessary and TV should not control the game.

Under the proposal, with runners on base, a pitcher would be required to start the motion of throwing a pitch or making a pickoff throw to avoid violating the action clock. Pitchers would be allowed one step-off or fake throw to a base per batter to reset the clock.
So instead of just stepping off, they will lightly throw to the base and make things go even slower. This will not speed anything up but will have the opposite effect. fricking idiots.

I don't disagree there. I strongly oppose any rules that change the game a lot. Baseballs beauty is that there is no clock. Every team has to get 27 outs to win. You can't hold on to the ball on the mound and run out a clock when you are ahead. If the game isn't decided in regulation then you keep playing the game, the exact same way it was played to determine the winner. That's what makes baseball great to me.

The runner on second in extras, and any type of clock, is just dumb. To speed up the game, figure out a way to speed up replays, limit mound visit times, move quicker between innings, but when the game is in action I want it to be baseball.

How does adding a pitch clock ruin that? Its still baseball. The guys just need to keep the pace up. Standing on the side of the rubber and taking a break, catching your breath, refocusing needs to be limited. Get on the rubber and throw. And for the batter, im sorry, but they dont need to step out and readjust batting gloves between every pitch

This is what is so dumb. They was MORE replays. As a former ump, it bothers me that it has come to this. While agree calling balls 3” off the plate is not good or some of the close plays that are missed but comparatively look at the number of time umps get it right and they waste time in replay. They should dock the ump’s pay for missing plays and give them bumps when they get close ones right. When the universities start to bitch about cost of umps because they got it right, it will go back to normal.

How about a base runner is allowed to be in fair territory when touching the base that’s in fair territory.

Because it's idiotic. Adding a ball, or whatever the case may be,because a pitcher takes a few seconds too long is stupid. It can change games. Then, on top of that, teams worked their way around the rule that actually slowed the game down. With these new rules, just step off, make a soft throw to first, and reset your pitch clock. That's not speeding anything up over the course of a game.

Nailed it. But did you notice now they want to take away the step off fake option.
So let’s make another rule to fix an issue created by a stupid rule that did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Leave the game alone

Start extra inning with runner on 2nd? F*dat. You gotta get there on your own. This isn’t T-ball.

You realize its not just fans complaining about pace & duration of the game but also the TV outlets that televise CBB would also like the game to not last 4 1/2 Hours.

So lets just let TV Outlets decide what an acceptable time frame for a game? I know CBS has NO problem with stretching out an SEC Football game to last 4 hours, but we can't sit back and watch a 3 1/4 hour baseball?

The only way to make a baseball game faster is to get 27 outs. Yet, Baseball is now trying to reduce that ability by handcuffing defenses by banning the shift.

Baseball isn't like Football, Basketball, Etc. More Offensive production means LONGER games.

And Keep that damn running off 2nd Base in extra innings. It give the home team too big of an advantage.

I would like to have some kind of rule to limit the number of times a batter can call a "time out". Make it one time out per at bat. And also only allow the batter to step out of the batters box, once per at bat. And not [ever] allow a time out when the pitcher is about to make his pitch.
