1) LSU goes 12-1 . loses in the playoff. O most certainly keeps job and finally gets respect from fans and peers.

2) Lsu has 10-3/11-2 season. O keeps his job and gains some respect.

3)LSU goes 8-5. This is where it gets tough. Alleva and O were basically given the keys to make sure O stays by giving him a 5 year deal and a 12 million dollar buyout. No Way LSU can hire another top tier coach with Millions tied up in LES and now O and a new coach looking for about 6 to 7 million a year.

4)7-6 or worse.See answer 3 but with one change remove O and replace with Aranda but with a huge 2019 recruiting class can you Afford to fire O and have Aranda be your head coach?

Where’s the option that we win playoffs? If there’s a playoffs option why not just add 2 more wins after that?

Tigers go undefeated. Win playoff championship.

Bama gets the trophy anyway

I’m hoping for 5-7 so we can clean house and end this nightmare quickly. The decline is real and inevitable with O so why not just get it over with.

Don’t think the buyout is 12 mil anymore. Think it went down some. Still high but not quite as bad.

I think you left out the most likely scenario.

8-4 regular season gets a less competitive bowl opponent, resulting in another 9-4 record.

That’s a regression with an extra regular season loss, but an easier bowl win.

What then??

If it's 3 or 4, then I'd just as soon have Miles back and laugh at his silly antics on the sidelines. Hope it's not, but it seems our AD is okay with it...

when doing predictions, please base it only on the 12 game regular season.

10-3 can mean two completely different things.

1. We could go 10-2 with 2 close losses to Bama and Georgia, and then lose a major bowl game against a very good opponent.

or

2. We could go 9-3, finish in the middle of the West, and win a shitty bowl game.

Those two 10-3 records AREN'T equal.

be careful, you'll be accused of not being a "true LSU fan" if you ever root for LSU to lose, for any reason whatsoever. Even if, as you correctly state, that we need the O era to end as quickly as possible so we can right the ship with a proven head coach.

Almost the EXACT same thing happened with Johnny Jones, and we're now on the road to relevance with Will Wade. If Jones had kept winning just enough to keep his job, we'd be wallowing in mediocrity much longer.

Better to rip that Band-Aid off quickly than a slow painful pull.

Hoping for a 5-7 season, some of you fans, I swear. Why not just starting pulling for other teams and save us your griping?

So, you're hoping that the seniors and those juniors who will be making the NFL step lose 7 games next year so you can feel good about the coaching situation?

I was kind of on the O train because of this dumb reason that they sold us. Keep the recruiting class in tact.I've since realized a coaching change might sting but it's always the right move for a floundering program, regardless of who's on board.

That is unless the class is in the 320 range. If we actually have the guys that make that score possible then you keep O. that 320 score would be the 3rd best class this decade. Only being just barely edged out by UGA this year and Bama last year.

Although, if we have a 8-5/7-6 season I very strongly doubt that tearing apart an elite class will be a concern.

no, I think he realizes the odds of us competing for championships under the current head coach are very slim, so he'd prefer for the O experiment to end sooner rather than later.

If that takes a 5-7 season, so be it.

If O keeps going 9-3, 8-4, keeps his job, and continues getting recruiting classes ranked in the teens, surely you can see how that's digging the hole deeper, and it'll take longer for the next HC to dig out.

Short-term pain for long-term gain. Very simple concept.

I get the concept. We all want what's best for LSU, but from a player's perspective, it would feel pretty crappy for a segment of the fans to be rooting for us to lose 7 games this year.

agreed, but we're not rooting against the players - only the coaching staff. We all love and respect the players, and it's a shame if the players get saddled with a bad coaching staff, but that's the way it is sometimes.

But that's the coaches' fault - not the fans and certainly not the players.

But as a fan, our main support is for the PROGRAM, since it will be around long after players come and go. And if we root for a terrible year so a bad coach will be fired quicker (e.g., Johnny Jones), that's only because we think it's needed to get the program back on track.

But I don't know of anyone who doesn't support the players.
