if it waits until Tue/Wed to finally move out of Houston, and it appears they will see a lot of flooding, tough to see the teams flying in Thur./Fri and playing on Sat. Hope I'm wrong but I don't see it getting played.

Lol if another game gets canceled.
There are many many football stadiums in this country and the majority of them are nowhere near an area that is going to be flooded. I would assume that contingencies have to be made if Houston isn't an option to play the game at another venue. This game will get played SOMEWHERE.

Serious question....how does that work with tickets? All the section numbers, row numbers, etc. will be different than what's printed on the ticket.

I agree. This is too big of a game to cancel, first games of the season (big teams) this game would get moved somewhere. I mean it is a neutral site game so it's not like the teams would fight it like a certain team we know of and won't name. We are two weeks out with the knowledge
that it could be possible, I'm sure the network and both teams have to working on a possible new site to play the game.

with over a week to move it, you would think the powers at be could move it. These neutral site games, I don't know who is in charge of that, and I can see them sitting on this and having the ball dropped again. I will be pissed.

The Texans are scheduled to play their last preseason game in Houston on Thursday night. The decision made for that will be a good indication of what will happen with our game.
For the optimists, I worked for the Texans from 2001-2007 and we had some significant weather events surrounding home games a handful of times and all the games were played as scheduled. We played a meaningless preseason game two days after the Katrina evacuees arrived right next door in the Astrodome. As fast as Houston floods, it also drains remarkably well and efficiently. From the front office side, there's a ton of money tied up in these neutral site games from tickets, suite sales, sponsorships, and TV. They go a little above and beyond compared to a normal college game to keep them on schedule, for the same reasons as the NFL. From a business standpoint they're more comparable to a bowl game.
In 2008 the Astros moved a home series to Milwaukee, but that was because the two games were the same days as when the hurricane hit.

How did it work for the South Carolina game that was moved here due to their flood? (serious question here too...I don't remember how it went down, but I imagine if this game gets moved to another venue, it might be a similar process)

If the game is moved they refund ticket holders, and then have a fire sale at the new venue. Usually tickets from the scheduled game don't transfer to the rescheduled game/site.

LSU will be playing BYU in NRG Stadium next Saturday at 8:30pm.

After reading through these posts, it seems like a lot of fans don't even know where BYU is located.

The storm is supposed to sit on Texas for 4 straight days. And then potentially move towards Louisiana. It has a chance to be a Cat 3 storm, cause serious storm surge, and extremely serious flooding. If you don't think at the very least contingencies are being discussed you are the idiot, not him.

48 hours after the Houston game. That is significant

You really think that was funny?

LSU issued reserved tickets on their system. Remember because I bought in shade on west side.

It isn't just flooding that we have to be concerned about. There may be a considerable amount of damage to infrastructure in SETX depending on if the storm remains strong during its NE movement towards Galveston and then LA. Even if the game somehow does happen at NRG, good luck with your hotel reservations or finding a place to stay.

Yea because most of the city will probably lose power for a week
Posted on 8/25/17 at 7:48 am to NorthshoreTiger76
I would've laughed at this yesterday, but a worst case scenario event with flooding could make this a possibility. I just hope there are back-up plans being made unlike with Florida.
