Another reason why I'm not a fan of neutral site games. Do we really make more money with this than a regular home and home? Is Verge around to answer that question?

Without all the extra overhead of a home game, yes they probably make more

Isn't the storm slated to hit this weekend? Is there really a threat to our game a week later?

NRG Field could be being used as a shelter if things get bad enough.

Yes! A few articles released this week about this.

An article in The Advocate this wk, quoting several LSU sources as saying financially wise, it's a no brainer. Right off the top, ESPN is paying LSU a little over $3M if I remember right. It's black & white more apparently. Looking at a possible season opener in the Dome in N.O. in the immediate future.

Seems odd that espn would pay more for a neutral field? Why would they pay less for home and homes?

What ever happened with St. Louis football team. Did they move to LA. Are they keeping their stadium? Seems like a nice neutral place to host college games. In doors too.

Not at all. More advertisers equals more money

ESPN is paying LSU $4 mil for this game.

In a home and home, like the upcoming Texas series, ESPN still pays a boatload of money, but it all goes to the home team.

Let's assume ESPN pays $4 mil for each game of the Texas series. LSU may net $5-6 mil at home, but gets nothing at Texas.

LSU makes more in 2 neutral games than a home and home.

Easy, no overhead. No stadium to staff, no concessions to buy, no parking attendants to pat, no police traffic enforcement to pay,and a whole lot more that cost the school to host.

Just show up, play collect 3-4 million

I agree. I don't think a decision will be made until Sunday or Monday. Last year was not on LSU but UF waiting.

There are other option than Provo though (not saying it's out). Provo would not go over well but LSU precedence for Katrina and Rita was to play at Arizona St. The latest show the storm staying west. Even though La may not be hit as bad, La will likely send a ton of support to Texas.

I did hear San Antonio was mentioned when it looked like the storm was moving more east but I doubt TX will be worried about that. I wouldn't mind Playing in Glendale if open! Lol

Exactly. Easy decision especially with the rising cost of College Athletics.

Things looking a little better for Houston in terms of the path of the storm.

However, it's the rain and flooding that is the problem. Houston is still in that shaded area where they're expecting 15-25 inches of rain.
