IF Tigers win out, that’s a 10-2 season and by all accounts a berth in the Fiesta or Sugar. I don’t care what anyone says, that’s a successful season. If they don't win out, well, that’s a different story.

We know that a Orgeron alone is not equipped to compete with Saban, Mullen, others. His hiring history is a concern — Canada’s hire basically wasted a year; Ensminger’s hire underwhelming. Steve has done a respectable job this year, but zero points ag. Ala. in 2 home games is not going to cut it.

So, Ed will recognize this and either return Steve to position coach status, or Steve will retire. And armed with an attractive chunk of money, he’ll hire a great offensive coordinator.

We win the bowl game, finish in the top 5-6, sign a great recruiting class. That’s all I got.

Lose to the Pigs or Gaggies, keep Steve as OC, and lose current commits and all bets are off. Orgeron and staff have work to do in the 2 remaining games. He MUST hire a cutting edge OC in the off-season.

Agreed, however I still love to blame last night on Alleva.

Him butchering the coaching search has us in this situation

Said this before Alabama and will continue to say it. Ensminger has done a respectable job at transitioning the LSU offense, but eventually will need to hand it off to someone who is a guru in modern offense. Ensminger is not the long term solution to get LSU where it wants to go.

Well, you’re stirring up water under the bridge. I agree Alleva is horrible and absolutely botched 2 searches. I’m willing to give Orgeron a fair chance and, last night notwithstanding, this has been a good season.

But ... the fact remains, we fired our most successful coach in history to elevate the defensive line coach to head coach, and ultimately, the tight end coach to OC. Underwhelming, to say the least.

BAMA’s top target each year is LSU. Without that win they lose more than the West. They lose valuable recruits from LA. This is the first year I have heard an LSU coach suggest that BAMA is our primary target. We usually get the same old “every game is important.” This year we had analysts working all year breaking down BAMA’s offense and defense.

What beat LSU this year was not a lack of knowledge but a lack of talent, particularly the line. I believe our coaches anticipated this. But there was nothing they could really do about it. I’m convinced we have the best DC in the league. I am not convinced that having the best OC in the league would have changed the outcome.

Maybe the line can get stronger next year. Maybe we can better recruit those positions. This February will tell.

A 10-2 record is still possible. That would be quite remarkable when compared to expectations. Go tigers!
