Final word is this. According to their own website the BCS is not an entity, it is a collection of Bowl games. In addition Coaches Poll agreed to name the winner of the BCS nc game their National Champion.

Absolutely nothing else.

Florida/LSU started playing each other permanently in 1971. Kind of a shame because it replaced Auburn as permanent interdivisonal opponent from SEC west. Jawga is the only other team gators has played more at that stage then Auburn. Auburn is more of a hated rivalry to us gators! All time series record is in Florida's favorite at 29-23-3!

I think (or at least I hope) a good thrashing like that can be a good thing for a young team with high expectations. The fact of the matter is that LSU started the season a little overrated with all the loss of experience. We probably should have started outside of the top 10. If our players have character, then they will recognize now that you have to prove you are worthy of the high ranking. Hopefully, they will work harder and learn assignments and become the team their talent is capable of (NC contenders). If not, they'll be better for the experience next year.

On second thought losing by 30 just sucks. I take it all back

Way to lay down the law and cut me off. Do you think you're a radio host or something?

And that just reinforces everything I said.

We can let this thread die now.

I didn't know that MJ knew the wishes of every single coach in the land. Otherwise, how would he know why coaches voted for LSU. Just saying. Try to...how do you say, just state the facts!

Seeing as in the history of the coaches poll, No #1 team who goes on to win their bowl game has dropped from #1. Never.

1. Let me help you out here cause it's pretty simple. LSU has no quality wins at all. LSU has close wins vs. some bad teams. LSU was blown the frick out of the water by 30 points. USC lost by 6. LSU has played the #66 SOS, USC has played the #3.

I hope that clears it for you as it is pretty simple.
Plus USC is the most talented team in the nation- how anyone could disagree with that would be beyond me.

Auburn was ranked 10th at the time that we played them, and we beat them by 5, and no matter what they are ranked now, i doubt anyone can call the 10th ranked team in the country at the time the game is played, a bad team
I would- along with any fan outside our fan base and many in it.

It's the final poll that really tells you what your schedule was like. Where they're ranked during the season means NOTHING.

Hey MJ, re-read your post you knob. You acted as though you knew that every coach would have voted for USC. As I pointed out, do as you say...just the facts please.

Doesn't matter, really. The AP voters award a National Title too and USC got that one...not sure why that's so hard for our fans to accept that...Miles sure accepted it last year.

I'm not discounting what the AP did or why, I am just pointing out to our friend MJ that he seems to ignore his own advice. AP - USC in 2003, I got it.

LSU has only lost ONCE since 1999 to an unranked team, and that was in triple overtime..

No, we lost to unranked UAB and Arkansas in 2000, unranked Ole Miss in 2001, unranked Arkansas in 2002 and unranked Florida in 2003.

Sorry.

Just for the record, given the choice I'd take the BCS title/playing in "The" game, anyday.

lSU lost to 2 teams that finished unranked just last season. Also lost to an unranked Florida in 2003.

Well, if you're going to be consistent, then you have to either count UK as a ranked team last year (they were ranked at the time we played them, even though they finished unranked) or count Florida as a ranked team in 2003 (they were unranked at the time we played them, but finished ranked).

Then I would count Florida, I wasn't sure they finished ranked. I thought they had 5 losses.

I always use final rankings, only valid measuring system, and even then the validity is sketchy

True to a point MJ. But then the "what ifs" come. What if their star QB was injured in the game? Get the picture. That being said, rankings are so sketchy nowadays anyway. There is another way, dare I say it...PLAYOFFS. Now, how in the hell do we set that one up. Just joking...please don't answer.
