Good post. After a quick scan, this is the only thing that pops out as something that I strongly disagree with--"Barrow is undisciplined."

I don't think the late hit was anything egregious. It was a bad break where he just happened to fall on the wrong side of the rules. He didn't chase the QB out of bounds or anything--I think he was still in bounds when he hit the QB (who had just stepped out of bounds).

I think Barrow played a great half, and that taking him out and putting Minter in made the defense much, much worse.

I think Barrow needs to be on the field every play. Ideally, I would want him, Sheppard, & Baker in at LB.

I can see where you are coming from on that. I would say ideally have minter in for run situations and barrow for pass/run situations while playing 4-3. And undisciplen might have been a little strong.

I appreciate your optimism and I try to share it as well. But, the problem that I have is that this is the same thing we were saying last year. After the Washington game, we were looking for positives and expecting to improve. We never did. It isn't that I don't have faith in the players. I have lost faith in the coaches because I see the same thing year after year, whether we are in the first game, or the 13th.

I do think that JJ was getting the play off faster. That is good. But, the lack of intensity and focus by the coaches when our backups were screwing up like crazy is a major problem.

Also, what happened at the end of the 1st half? The same thing as last year. We run a play that ends with 24 seconds left. Then, we let the clock run down to 15 seconds before we call a timeout. Why did it take them 9 seconds to figure out they wanted a timeout? Of course, next play, JJ runs around like crazy and throws an INT out of desperation. Same thing as last year.

It isn't that there are not positives. LSU is so talented, we are always going to be a hair away from greatness. But, that is where coaching makes the difference and it is obvious that our coaching is lousy, in my opinion. And, that is what concerns me. Penalties, turnovers, disorganization, lack of fire and intensity, making the same mistakes over and over. Good coaching addresses this and corrects it. We have something different than that.

We have Les Miles.

One problem on defense was not wrapping up the ball carrier.

We were terrible at tackling last year also.

Our linebackers really struggle with coverage on the te's. Besides that, our run d looked nasty, we got very good pressure on the quarterback, and the passing defense will get on track with a little work. Let's face it, on their 2 td's in the second half, they were crafty extremely well executed plays. On the last td pp was held on the edge otherwise he prolly sacks the qb. Bad luck, unfortunate no call for lsu. Offense looked good running the ball out of the I. Penalties and fumbles killed us. IMO a couple of those penalties were iffy, ticky tack, calls. Jj looks a tad bit better, but If the running game gets on track, fewer penalties and turnovers, he will seen much better. Jj's biggest problem is his inability to make mid range throws, which is why we can't complete 3rd and 8+. Ridley should see the bench for the fumbles IMO.

Overall, there is a lot to clean up, but a lot to be excited about. If used correctly, shep is a heisman caliber player in the future IMO.

The all three TOs was really surprising to me as well. I was like "wow.....usually them babys are gone by mid 4th" Very good plus.

I also loved using them in the 1st half to conserve clock to try and score again even though we let like 7 secs drop off the damn clock but oh well.

That 4th quarter was one of the most horrendous I have ever seen an LSU team play. Truly embarassing. The quality has fallen so far since the end of 2007 it's not even funny. I fear this is 2009 all over again. This coaching staff is terrible right now. All that wasted talent. These kids deserve better.

Les Miles, a person of high moral character.

The same can not be said of NCAA coaches Rick Pitino and John Calipari and there are more of these characters.

So he's a great guy. Awsome. But I don't want him to frick my daughter...I want him to produce championship caliber football like he did his first 3 years. I can deal with an a-hole as long as he wins.

Assholes get things done. Ghegis Khan, Atilla the Hun, Bobby Knight all produced results. shite, that's why I am an a-hole.

Therein lies the entire issue we all have with him. You're up 20 on the #18 team in the nation, depleted or not. Same thing he's done for years.

We desperately need a dose of Lee's leadership ON the field. He has to be a better pocket passer than JJ. The talented receiers MUST get the ball in their hands.

That's pretty damned funny right there.

Other historical assholes of note:

Donald Rumsfeld, Nick Saban and (dare I say it)
Lane Kiffin!

Negative I have not seen on any LSU websites.

Leg cramps!!

Georgia Dome 68 degrees!! NO Humidity!!

How many cramps are we going to have when Moo State arrives in TS, with 90 degrees & 80-90 % humidity.

Thought the same thing. What kind of conditioning do we have if they are cramping up in decent temps and controlled humidity?

From what I've been told by people at the game (and read on here from people who were at the game), CLM was yelling for a timeout almost immediately, but the ref wasn't paying attention. My brother-in-law, who is not a CLM fan (by a long shot) said that was an unfair criticism. I dislike the way the coaches treated the game as though it was one after the half, but the end of the 1st quarter isn't entirely worth all the criticism.

I was thinking the same thing. But our game wasn't the only one where guys were cramping. Recently there have been an increased amount of deaths of young guys from the heat. This, I think, has kept coaches across America from conditioning athletes like they used to. When players drop dead at practice, this doesn't look very good for the University and coaching staff.
