Same reason we dont allow tablets, limit TV time, and the only video games available to my children are limited to a super nintendo emulator on my cheap home school computer. Dopamine receptors burn out so easily, I got 5 of em, I want them out making friends and playing in the woods. This is coming from a video game addict. Complete restriction is stupid, but so is unlimited access. They're doing better than I did in both school and social development than I did stuck in front of a video game console my entire free time as an only child with adhd. Balance.
