If he was extremely well liked by the fan base, for his play on the field...nobody would boo.
I doubt people did it because of the incident, more of supporting Lee IMO.

I think part of it is these types of "fans" want it to be about them - they want to be participants as well as spectators and supporters. It's kind of like when you see certain referees and umpires go out of their way to call attention to themselves. These "fans" want the attention on them.
