It’s not their fault that there are no rules and that’s on the NCAA and college presidents.
It’s a free market system. Why wouldn’t they seek make the most out of the market? Coaches and schools have prospered so why shouldn’t the kids who create the product prosper.

How did it get this out of hand. Team sports are over in college. It's the I-ME system. Kinda sucks. Think i will increase my fishing

Look, I agree with you. It’s ridiculous. But also is this really something you’re just finding out? We’ve had a few years to kind of get used to what college football is until major rules are implemented.

Be happy LSU woke up and committed to playing the game and hiring a coach who embraces it.

But we’re in a system that's half pro half amateur where there is no expectation or commitment from either the school or the player.

Didn’t say that. Everything you posted is accurate. 100% accurate. Sorry if lost in translation. I was agreeing with you. To be fair though, the schools do not want the athletes as employees. They may not get what they want.

Everything you posted is what the schools told the members of Congress would happen. Eventually, the schools would begin to hold players responsible/accountable for their end of the bargain regarding revenue sharing. It’s what they’re doing now. Remember, it was our current football HC who stated about 5 years ago why he hated the portal because he knew players would be left out in the cold. Translation, the then current system protected them somewhat. Now, it’s all about the players producing what they say they will do. If not, hit the road.

NIL is a completely different matter. To put it in a nutshell, NIL MUST have VALUE. Once Mr. Oracle gave a HS quarterback $10M, the gloves came off, so to speak. The problem is how do you form a CBA with a bunch of underage high schoolers and of-age college students. You can’t. Rather, it’s nearly impossible. What most don’t understand about CBAs is they almost always regulate NIL as well. Even if it’s to give the athlete free rein, it’s in there. At that goes for NFL, NBA, NASCAR, Indy Car, MLS etc (NASCAR actually redid theirs a few years ago. It’s not a bad read to help understand how these negotiations go. Formula One restructures theirs every 5-7 years. It’s called the Concorde Agreement.).

Right now the contracts cannot be for athletic performance or for commitment to a program. For athletic performance..

Were still pretending NIL is actually NIL...
