On the topic of basketball, I was watching a clip on ESPN talking up Mike Daum for moving past Oscar Robertson into the top 10 all-time on the NCAA career scoring leader's list. It got me to thinking how some LSU fans I've talked to don't even realize that Pete Maravich is the all-time leading scorer in college basketball... and by a LONG SHOT.

What's crazy is he only played 3 years AND he did not even have the 3-pt shot when he played. Dude made a ton of shots from 3-pt range, too. Plus he still scored more than 10 more points per game than the second best shooter did in NCAA history! That's insane! I doubt his NCAA scoring record will ever be eclipsed.

It's a shame there isnt more film from his playing days when he was at LSU. Here's a YT clip I found though for your troubles.

The most unstoppable offensive force in the history of ball, the first technician as a basketball player, the way he'd run an offense and execute these strategic ultraskilled passes instantaneously and on a dime had no peer, he made LSU basketball cool in the annals of the sport, an all-time icon

And with all of that scoring, he’s still 5th on LSU’s all-time assists leaderboard with 425.

Truly tGOAT.

Crazy people don’t know this. At the time he left he had points assists and every other statistical scoring record there is.

Loved him in my childhood and still do.
How would the 1972 U.S. Olympic basketball team have been had Hank Iba chosen Peter? Would that final game have been close enough to get screwed as it so clearly was?

drugs are bad. Stay away from them. This is about the dumbest thing I’ve ever read.
I can start naming names of players that, not only could play, but be great from his “era”.
But you aren’t worth my time.

Most amazing stat to me is he scored 50 points in a game...28 times. Let that sink in for a minute.
