According to him we come in 3rd in the West..

We could go 10-2 or 9-3 and still finish 3rd in the west.

Phil has said we will have another below average year because of a young unproven qb. He is correct a lot. I hope this is not one of those times.

Truer words were never spoken.

This should be just as brutal as LSU-App St last year.

Scary thing is, he is right more than he is wrong and more than anyone else....

This is absolutely true. The schedule is brutal for the Tigers - on the road in Athens, the Grove, and at Sabanama -- 1 and 2 is not bad with that, and could put LSU 3rd in West by itself. Then too -- LSU could run the table through these three games. But Bama and Ole Miss just have easier schedules.

Over the years, Phil Steele is pretty accurate. The Tigahs will have an improved defense this year with great talent and great coaching. However, it will not come like "turning on a light switch". Jake Locker will make his passing yards...our guys may make some mistakes....first game. washington will be much better than that 0-12 team. we will win the game but so what if it is not by 3 or 4 touchdowns. Tigah fans ASSUME the our team is much improved and the Huskies will stay the same....totally wrong. If LSU wins every game they play this year by 1 point....they will be National champions.

I envision Mississippi state 2007 as a similar beatdown to what this will be.

Third in the West sounds right. Although the top three; Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, could finish in any order and it wouldn't be surprising.

I think this is a year -- without a doubt with the depth in the SEC and the QB depth in the Big 12 that LSU/Bama/Ole Miss could be 3rd in West in any order and be one of the top 6 or 7 teams in the country. Steele and others are basing prediction of SEC on two factors that LSU must overcome to make it to Atlanta -- the experience and depth of Alabama on D, and the QB strength and experience of the O at Ole Miss. They have proven pieces. LSU has some pieces and more potential. Anybody's game.

I think LSU will win the west. Alabama has to have strong QB play and I don't think it will be there. Ole Miss will lose to us and since they don't play UF, we will be their only loss. Therefore, we may get beat by UF, but will still be in the SECCG with a rematch with the gators.

If it is a clear night and the rain holds off I say LSU 35-10

If it rains I say LSU 28-3

If it pours I say LSU 21-0

Enough Ifs for you.

My vote for greatest first post in the history of the rant.

How many others feel this also typifies the general football knowledge of the average ranter?

That's about what I predicted. If we keep our staters in the whole game I think we win by 20.

Yeah, it most likely should but in reality, probably will not. New D coach for LSU, new HC for UDub. I think 14-17 pt spread is fairly accurate.

Probably tight first quarter, LSU for the next two quarters and UDub scored 10 in junk time.

LSU 55
UW 17

Tigers have way too much offense for the huskies and the D will create @ least 3 turnovers. This Tiger team is simply too good for Udub.
