You do know that Troy is in Alabama, right?

LSU cornerback Phelon Jones, granted a release earlier this month for a possible transfer to Auburn, is not headed to the Plains after all and is considering other schools, including Alabama
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic School received a release from LSU on April 3 to talk with coaches at Auburn, but his father, Tony Jones, said the Tigers do not have a spot for him. Jones said his son, who started two games at cornerback in 2008 and saw extensive action as a nickel back, would like to consider transferring to Alabama or Troy, but has not been released by LSU to talk with those schools.
"Phelon wanted to come back home and play," the elder Jones said. "In talking to (Auburn head coach Gene) Chizik, he's not making it happen. The NCAA said he would count in the 2010 scholarship class and Chizik just doesn't have enough scholarships."
Jones said neither he nor his son have spoken with anyone at Alabama or Troy, where his brother, Carvel, is a linebacker. "He had more interest in Alabama, but did not get a release," the elder Jones said, adding that his son is still seeking the release from LSU.

I'm sure Phelon knows more about himself than a writer.
I never said it was set in stone either bro, go back and read my posts. I was merely stating that Jones said today, that he is going to bama.

From what I read, the Auburn thing didn't work out, so now he wants to go to Bama if he can get a scholly, but he said he hasn't even talked to Bama about it yet. So it's not like it's a sure thing Bama is taking him or anything. We are kinda low on DB depth for this year, but should be ok by time he would be elligible, so I doubt we take him.

I kinda doubt it, I'm sure Saban wanted him as new recruit, but to use a scholly when he'll only be elligible for one year(which is what was said on this forum), ehh... I doubt it. If he had three years to play two, I could see it.
Guess it all depends on if Saban thinks he's worth it and needed. I have no problem taking the kid if he can be an asset to the team.
Maybe he could give us some insight in how to beat ya'll again.

I thought he was a RS freshman last year so wouldn't he lose his Sophomore and have his JR and SR years to play?
Correct, he has two years of eligibility left once he sits out his redshirt sophomore season.

I don't think we should let players transfer to other SEC West schools.

I don't see this rumor on any Bama boards, don't believe it. We don't have any schollys for the next few years anyway. Bama has to unload some players.

Those are Phelon's dads quotes, not the writer. And by saying that hes going to "bama" just means hes going to the state of Ala"bama" not the football team.
Auburn, and Troy are also in bama, FWIW. And if hes gonna need a 2010 scholly, Saban has less room than Chiz.

This has supposedly been confirmed by a guy on BOL who claims to have talked to Phelon earlier this afternoon. He said he has been extended a scholarship offer from Bama and plans on moving in June. Take it for what it's worth. Those of you with a BOL account (I know there are a couple of you here) - the thread title is "Phelon is coming to Tuscaloosa".

He's probably a very good player who will contribute at Bama, Auburn, or wherever else he ends up.
If he had just been patient and waited one more year, he probably could have gotten some serious playing time his last two years at LSU since McCray and Hawkins would both graduate after next year.
