How do these compare to some of the existing players we have? (Is it an upgrade or meh)

How the f is Harris at a 71 grade when he had one of the lowest completion % against him in country
I really don't understand their grading system.

They probably looking at something like run defense too in the calculations. Johnson so low makes me think that because his issue right now is he's not very physical or a good tackler. He did have 1 bad game though getting burnt toast but he's a young CB.
Swinson so high is surprising. I saw a stat on him that said he had a 30% success rate on pass rush downs. He might be a sleeper.

Harris had pretty limited stats. He was only ever on the field for 98 total coverage snaps, gave up 4 catches on 11 targets for 28 yards, 1 TD and 2 PBU. Hard to really care about comparing him to the rest of the country when he didnt get many snaps to begin with.
Still a 71 grade is pretty good, it was the 2nd highest grade of anyone who played on the Aggy defense last season. The highest of ANY of their 5-star freshmen.

Just add 15 if you want to read them like HS recruiting grades

They also grade them on plays where the ball didn’t get thrown their way. So, if he blew a coverage, but the QB didn’t see it, that’s still a negatively graded play. Similarly, it’s still a negative play if he gets beat, but the WR drops the ball. Then there are penalties, missed tackles, being out of position on run plays, etc.
All in all, a 71 for a FR a with limited playing time is pretty good.

With the grade of Alexander that tells me that we may not have to rely on sage Ryan to play nickel and can play brooks at one of the saftey spots.
That’s my main worry is having to rely on him if he hasn’t improved much. If he has improved then we may have guys better than burns when we move them around. It’s gonna be good to have 3 legit corners that can plug and play or at least push whoever beats them out
We may go out there with Harris chestnut and Alexander. Then we could play brooks and burns or brooks and Ryan at saftey . That’s if no freshman beats them out .
I think another year in the weight room and brooks will be a monster, he’s already super aggressive

I don't either. I think it's overrated AF. They use nebulous terms like "advanced metrics" and "proprietary algorithm" and people cream their pants

I really hope Sage takes the next step. As of right now he's a bust unfortunately. He still has time to develop but man has he been a huge disappointment. People were saying it in HS he was way overrated on ranking and they were right that he wasn't even the best S in LA in that class.

He’s never going to be what we all hoped as a 5 star, but hopefully he can at least become a solid and consistent contributor. If he can grow to become as good as Ward did his last two seasons, that would be a big win at this point.

Sage has been very good against the run (74 PFF grade) he struggles in coverage. He’s a in the box safety not a nickel they gotta put him in a better position to succeed
