I'm agreeing with SFP in this argument and I feel strangely dirty.

OK, I have to call out SFP. He is normally a very knowledgable poster, but he is wrong on this.
Word is Cutrera is busting heads the first couple of days, and is clearly one of the 3 best LB's. He is at 245 (will be at 235 by the time camp ends), and is healthy.
Do not be surprised to see Darry move outside with Riley when 3 LB's are playing. Again, we will see more of Chad Jones and Danny McCray than Sheppard and Cutrera because of opposing schemes.

I can't understand how some people can hate on college athletes so much. Cutrera might not be a superstar but he provides above average depth and has never done anything for us to question his character off the field. (I sound like the OK state coach).
Anyway, heres to fewer haters in the world and support for everyone who busts their arse to be successful.

I hope that's true. Darry is not a natural ILB.

Why would we run a 3-4? We have a lot of talent at D-line. We only have 4 linebackers that are going to play. Those of which are unproven, besides Beckwith. I think we run the 4-3 this year and we run it in the future.

That's what I would do.....move the speed (Beckwith) to the edges for 4-3 but leave Beckwith in the Dime.

Maybe slowflow should have a sitdown with Miles and other SEC coaches and give them a few pointers on recruiting, x's and o's, etc. Like it or not dude, Cutrera will be the man in the middle next year and will see extensive playing time this year. Im just gonna have to go with having a little more faith in the coaches decisions than your suggestions. One more thing man.. Do you ever leave the computer? You have over 100,000 posts! You must have one very unsatsified woman if you have one at all.

i thought riley and sheppard were running with the 1's at practice
But word is that Cutrera could see as about as much PT as them, and that he'll be moved around.

Man I never went to AHS. I never lived in Laff either. I just get tired of people on message boards thinking they know who should start, play this position, or even be on the roster for Gods sake rather than accepting the fact that the coaches know a little bit more about a player than they do. People on here talked shite about Luke Sanders. The kid started 2yrs for an elite program yet they still thought he sucked. The coaches know who to put out on the field. Theses coaches jobs are on the line. You dont think they play the best players?

hoefully we're running a 3-4 where lateral movement isn't required then
i hope so

I hope Cutrera has a great career at LSU. I'll trust the coaches to start the best players. I won't weigh in on my opinion of Cutrera because I've had a bad taste in my mouth for him since I saw him in high school. I saw him get run over time and time again against West Monroe. He met Frank Goodin in the backfield head up, not at an angle, helmet to helmet, for a 5 yard loss. Goodin threw him down like a little bitch and ran 40 yards for a touchdown. Goodin was 5'9" 180 and will be starting for ULM this year. Good player, but he should've been on his butt that play. Like I said, that was a long time ago and I hope Cutrera has 100 tackles this year, just saying that will forever be burned in my head when I think of him.

+1
We can't have a superstar at every position. Almost every player has a weakness, but if he's on the field then he's probably the best we have and we should give him our full support. All the guys on the team are great athletes. Those of us (SFP) who haven't played past pop warner should probably hold our tongues or at least temper our comments. I don't think the tone of alot of the criticism on this board is appropriate considering that it is directed at college players that bust their arse for their school. If they were professionals, that would be another story.

I call bullshite on that seeing as to how you can't disrupt a spread unless you put pressure on the QB.
You don't know what you're talking about. You cannot go into a game planning to pressure a spread type offense using only 4 defensive linemen. It doesn't work.
I cant believe I'm getting sucked into this effin arguement again but here goes. You can't possibly think that a seasoned QB in a spread option will not eat your lunch if he has time. It doesn't matter if you put 1 defensive linemen and 10 covermen, if he has all day to throw the ball, he will find the mismatch and exploit it. YOU MUST PUT PRESSURE ON THE QB IN A SPREAD OPTION AT ALL COSTS. It's in the Bible, man. Man up on recievers and take your chances then that leaves you 2 extra men to blitz, delay blitz, or spy on the QB if he's mobile. You will get burned a few plays, but if youre persistent, you WILL disrupt the O and hopefully get a turnover or two. If you just sit back and rely on pure atleticism of your covermen, I guarantee they will pick you apart all game and wear out your defense. With LSU's big, fast, experienced defensive line and young LBs, you would have to be a moron to think were better off trading a DL for a LB. They give us the best chance to put pressure on the QB.

I found this, but not him admitting to Acadiana. With his infatuation, it's safe to assume the close relative is JC.
have a close relative on the football team.... (Posted on 7/13 at 9:19 p.m.)

and he says with out a doubt Lee will be the starter for the opener.
