PP7 is a proven NFL star. TM has yet to prove anything in the NFL. But as far as NFL skills, PP by a mile.

PP7 = Best CB in the NFL for the next 12 years

HB = possibly the best punt returner in the NFL.

HB> PP7 at PR
PP7 > HB at KR

HB's change of direction is unmatched and that is what allowed him to field punts in situations that used to scare the crap out of me but he would pull it off every darned time and make double digit returns every time.

They are both game changers but in different ways.

On defense, HB can make flashy plays because he doesn't have to worry about the opponent's best receiver. The reason that he doesn't have to worry about the opponent's best receiver is their same reaon why the Chief used to be able to bring the heat at will when PP7 was in Red Stick. Patrick was usually a better receiver than the opponent's best receiver and his athletic ability often got him into better position than the receiver that the ball was thrown to.

Ok you got me. Pp7 had one more yard per return average LOL at me. And I was talking about overall not just returns. So you're little over dramatic "insult to mention him in the same breath" statement is ridiculous

Nothing ridiculous about it.
It's a fact.

Better at what?
Smoking dope and letting his teammates and coaches down?

Look I don't dislike TM, I just don't get this boycrush so many of you here have for this guy.
It's an obsession.

As I said earlier, ZMett puts time in with cancer struck kids in BR and the thread gets 4-5 replies... There is 3 TM threads on the first page... That's a weekly occurrence.
The butthurt that some of you have if a poster doesn't participate in the jerk a thon is weird as well... Now y'all have resorted to putting him in same level as PP... An actual LSU great that chose to do things the right way.
So no IMO they shouldn't be mentioned in same breath.

Yes he was a disappointment due to being kicked off the team but that doesn't change the fact that he was one of the best players in the country when he was on the field. I know you can't accept that because of the way his career ended but it's true. He was the best player on the field every game and he was better at LSU than PP7. You obviously can't separate his off the field decisions from his play on the field

OK preacher man. All I know is that TM was the most electric player I have seen in a really long time. PP could shut down half of the field and return like a champ but TM could change a game with his playmaking. If I'm looking for a cornerback then PP is the guy, but if I want a disruptive force that can change games then it's TM all day. Probably the most disruptive player in college football history if he hadn't screwed up. 5-7 turnovers per year with 2 returned for TDs. He was the truth.

Could have been. He was epically disruptive to any offense he played against. A total game changer. Unfortunately he cut himself short. Could you imagine him as a junior / senior after what he did as a freshman?

TMs defensive skills won't translate to the NFL nearly as good as PP. Push on kick returns
