I can't believe what I just read in the TP. Peter Finney is a well respected writer, but this article doesn't make sense. Lee is our starter and I support him 100%. Any thoughts?

What about it that doesn't make sense? The essense of the article is "Miles knows this. His best chance to win a national championship is with Jefferson taking snaps." Hasn't Miles named JJ the starter for 3 years straight including this year? Isn't that an indication he feels JJ is his best chance at winning a championship?

Now we know there are a number of Ranters who feel they know better than Miles, a $4+ mil a year coach in this instance and Saban, a $4+ mil a year coach in the JR/Flynn debate, both of who have won national championships. I put my money on the highly paid professionals, at the very top of their profession, whose jobs are dependant on their personnel decisions over a bunch of computer jocks with agendas.

For everyone that doesn't think we need a multi-threat QB. Please watch the Florida and BAMA games from this past weekend. Their defence is much improved, and their offence racked more that 400 yds. Oregon has no running D like in the SEC. Yes, they played blowout teams but make no mistake - 275 yds is not going to cut it against them. We need to improve our passing game. We need to beat them to win the BCS. I don't know if we will play JJ this year, and Lee is our QB right now, but we need over 200 yds passing to have a fair chance. That's what the writer was implying. I'm just enjoying our win while looking ahead.

Apparently you haven't read what I posted...JL gives us more options than JJ, that's why I prefer JL.

JL executed the game plan as called by the coaches. He will continue to to improve as a game manager. We don't need a quarterback controversity again. He is a smart young man who is dedicated to LSU and will help us win. When JJ does return, he will have to earn his position.

Lee really didn't do that much on Saturday to separate himself from JJ. If JJ came back tomorrow Lee would likely be 2nd string again

Chockie, remember when JJ was taking sacks on 4th down at the end of the UF game we lost at home a couple years ago because he didn't want any INTs on his stat line?

Agreed. *If* he return. But he hasn't had any problem earning it since he's been here. My only concern would be the team's response and/or if starting him would be controversial with them. I don't really care what we ranters have to say about it.

What doesn't make sense about it?

I understand you disagree with the column, but just because you disagree with a column doesn't make it bad. His logic makes sense and he laid out he case for a running QB. The quality of a column is not judged by how much it reinforces an opinion you already hold.

That's not how debate works in modern America. If someone disagrees, they are, without question, illogical.

Really?

How about how our running game needs him.
Why?

Our running backs did just fine racking up over 200 yards on the ground. No jj required.

If JJ returns he will not start as long as Lee is winning. He will play but i can't see him starting if we're undefeated

We can do fine without JJ. The biggest thing I missed in the Oregon game was no QB running by JJ or some Wild Tiger by Russell Shepherd.

As far as Jefferson on the field goes, he does not have the brains to run the offense. He has the physical ability just not the mental ability. You can watch him when he drops back to pass. If his primary receiver is covered, he cannot go through his progression to find someone open. He immediately looks to run. Personally, I am not a fan of the running QB. I like the pocket passer.

This is it in a nutshell. What type person spews this type BS? Anyone want to guess?

Has there been anything shown on the field that Lee is more intelligent than JJ? Has Lee shown he can go through his progressions better than JJ? Do their stats bear this out. Who has the higher completion percentage? Who has the least interceptions per throw. Which is more comfortable in the pocket? Which has won the competition to start 3 years in a row? The guy that does not have the brains to run the offense? Incredible!

I don't think I've ever seen a RS option. We may have seen some direct snaps, but never anything that credibly resembled a wild tiger.

I just can't see what this guy's saying. I see us having a good running game this year, and having a running QB isn't what we need unless he can pass also. We need a passing QB and that's Lee. I just don't see JJ being the passing threat we need.

Lee did fine against Oregon and I support him and would rather not return to the JJ vs. Lee controversy.
