This qb debacle started with Ryan Perriloux getting arrested. There isn't an excuse for not getting talent/developing talent since however this still played a huge part in the downfall of LSU qb situation.

Stop blaming Perrilloux...there are so many reasons why the QB situation is the way it's been. Les Miles ego and stubbornness is the center of it though.

Perrilloux was arrested and kicked off the team 8 years ago....not sure how anything with RP affects our lack of quality QB play for that many seasons.

I blame it on Josh Booty going to play Pro baseball first.

I think the initial poster correct; it was the Perrilloux situation that led to what we have. Perrilloux is one of the great talents I've seen come through LSU--others are Casanova, Cannon, Cecil Collins, and Mathieu. Because he was so touted we did not recruit well at QB, and when Perrilloux went off the team we were left with two freshmen, J Lee and J Jefferson. Those two did not develop well, perhaps by being thrown in so young. That cut QB recruiting, and we have not been the same since. Defensive backs want to come here because of the great ones coming out of LSU, but I think QBs would rather sling balls at Fla State, Univ of Fla, Ole Miss, Georgia, and Clemson.

That shouldn't have hurt us more than two years TOPS! That was 8 and a half years ago! Miles took what should've been a small dent and made a meteor sized crater out of it.

I blame Larry Foster for stealing a purse and getting chased down by a student.

LOL, blaming LSU qb problems or Ryan P. is simply retarded.

If we didn't get him and he went to Texas, we would have gotten Colt McCoy. Imagine that for a second

I'm not sure you got the gist of what he's saying.

He's not blaming Perrilloux - he's indirectly blaming the coaching staff for the situation WITH Perrilloux (i.e. putting all our QB eggs in one recruiting basket, having no viable alternative, and then refusing to adjust and recruit top-quality QB's that fit our system).

There's a difference. Ryan P. may have messed up his own future, but the end result is on the LSU coaches at the time for either not properly vetting RP before recruiting him, and/or not having a decent backup plan in place in case he didn't work out.

Then Colt McCoy would have been subpar. The problem is not the talent that LSU brought in, its the lack of development at QB and bringing in players based on star rating regardless of how they fit in an offense. LSU can basically go out and get just about any QB they really want but if they do nothing with them then you get what they have right now.

Me too...maybe LSU goes after Peyton harder if not for Booty. Then when he came back, we miss out on Eli. Not saying we would've landed either. But there were MANY at the time, that swore Booty was better than both Mannings
