Milroe, Reed and Sellers all ran for about 50 a game.

I am good with Perk ghosting Klubnik all night, just like he did with Tua in the BAMA game his freshman year.
But the other thing that has to happen is for our Linebackers and SS absolutely Laying the Wood on every play!
IMHO, we will only have returned to old school LSU defense when have guys that love hitting, are scary aggressive and have a vocal group of leaders on the field.
I am very hopeful that Weeks, Perk and others are those folks and that we will be back to playing LSU defense!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Based on his numbers, Perkins is the biggest flop in a very long time. He just is not the dog he needs to be. I'd take 190lb Tyrann all day long over this overpaid chump Perkins.

We don't really need Perkins to spy Klubnik.
I hope to God LSU does not spy Klubnik much, if at all.
Milroe, Reed, and Sellers all beat teams with their legs. Milroe was Alabama's leading rusher in 2024. A defense designed to limit his rushing yards is a good idea. The other two also averaged about 50 yards per game. That's about 20 yards more per game on average than Klubnik. All three had far more carries per game than Klubnik.
Klubnik did not beat any team in 2024 with his legs; he beat them with his arm.
Compare Klubnik's passing yards, rushing yards, and run% to Milroe, Reed, and Sellers. Klubnik is a MUCH bigger threat through the air than on the ground. Klubnik is the only one who passed for over 3,500 yards but ran for less than 500 yards.
Player . . . Pass . . . Run . . . Total . . . Run%
Milroe . .. . 2844 . . . 726 . . . 3570 . . . 20.34%
Reed . . . . 1864 . . . 543 . . . 2407 . . . 22.56%
Sellers . . . 2534 . . . 674 . . . 3208 . . . 21.01%
Klubnik .. . 3639 . . . 463 . . . 4102 . . . 11.29%
Klubnik gets almost 90% of his yards through the air. If LSU spies Klubnik, it greatly diminishes LSU's pass coverage.
I'd rather let Klubnik get his 30 yards rushing and put the emphasis on limiting his passing than vice versa.
I hope to God LSU does not spy Klubnik much, if at all.

I'm more worried about the pass defense than him beating us with his legs. But that could also have been said last year also when those 3 guys busted big plays and ran all over us.

I hope it's not required at all and he no choice but to run.

The only issue I see with Perkins being the Star is that you can force that position into coverage nearly every down if LSU is in their base defense.
Yep, Dabo will look to see the sets & motion that will pull Perkins away from the LOS. CBB will need to be ready to adjust accordingly to keep our most athletic DEF player in the mix to make plays.
It's going to be one heck of a chess match. It just feels different this year as you look at our DEF and see multiple guys at every level - DL, LB, DB - capable of making an impact to stall drives & get off the field.

It's quite literally what he's designed to do. Perkins is brutally athletic, but not big enough for every down DE. He always did well when he was "chase this person".

I would’ve loved to have seen what a healthy 2022 version (or this year version) of Perkins could’ve done with Milroe.
Posted on 8/27/25 at 6:54 pm to madddoggydawg
Because he wasn’t playing the position he excelled in in 23. He was playing MLB and he clearly was not comfortable there. I’m talking about playing edge rusher and just getting after the QB on almost every play like he did in 22 and hopefully this year.

You never use one guy to spy the QB. Doing that will allow the opponent to make the spy vulnerable to being faked out. You use multiple spys instead to confuse the QB. You also make them think you are going to spy and take advantage of that too.
