Ah, yes. Teamswag staying in the game. Maybe if the Gumpsters had any notion that we could complete a forward pass they wouldn't had their ears pinned back all night?

basically said if Mett wasn't hurt due to bowl game practice, he (Les) probably would have played him. IMO anything would have been better than JJ in that game..I would have taken Rivers after the start of the 3rd

NOT what he said......go read the quote again and be "ashamed" for even starting this shite again.

If anyone believes this they have lost their mind. I can't believe Les even said that. Nobody was gonna play in that game except JJ.

This is not a persuasive argument. By the third quarter, it was obvious to any observer with functioning ocular nerves and basic reasoning skills that we were going to lose - could NOT win - with JJ under the center. Hence, any other strategy was justified and warranted at that point. Imagine being on a plane with no functioning engines and a shattered empennage. The wings are on fire. It's in a screaming nosedive. The plane is going to f*cking crash. This is inevitable. There are some parachutes in the hold. Enough for the few passengers. They are old and tattered. It isn't clear if they have been packed properly. No guarantee that they will open. Or function properly if they do open. It's a long shot. But of course it's still the only shot to survive...because the PLANE IS GOING TO F*CKING CRASH. If you're the pilot, do you order the passengers to suit up and try to parachute out? If you are a right thinking human being, of course you do...because the alternative is that THE PLANE IS GOING TO F*CKING CRASH. But not Les Miles. If he's at the helm, he sits in the cockpit playing with yoke while the fuselage hurtles to the ground to be consumed in a hellish fireball, killing all aboard. Greeted at the gates of heaven or the outermost circle of hell, Miles is asked why he didn't deploy the parachutes, the only possible way out of the predicament. His answer: "I had a want to but doobah dabby dabba doo phfffftttt! Have a nice day."

This is by far the best post I have ever seen anyone make on TD.

Well it was brought up at media days. Les continues to give the media and the fans a runaround excuse.

he had an opportunity to take a couple of strides and got a hand injury that really kind of slowed his development. Maybe he could have taken some snaps in that national championship game should he have not gotten hurt, you know, earlier in that bowl practice, so...

Gezz, that's the exact quote?

Some here take retard to a wholeeeeeeeeeeeee different level.

Yep, no difference between he hurt his hand in bowl preps which limited his getting ready for the game as opposed to his hand was hurt and he couldn't physically play in the game.

Comeeeeeeeeeeee onnnnnn fall practice!

but makes no explanation as to why he failed to substitute in the available senior back-up who had started half of the season and gone undefeated in that role

the explaination is that kid shite the bed against the team we were playing in the BCS CG and would not have been undefeated had he not been pulled from that game.

And JJ didnt shite the bed vs UGA in the CC or could you or Miles not tell he was shitting the bed at least by the third quarter and his fantastic pass to Ware in the NC game?????

If shitting the bed was the reason for getting benched for the rest of the season why did we see JJ at all after the West Va game in 2010, or the Vandy game or the Tenn game or the ULM game and so on and so on?????????

I'm going to try something risky and attempt to interpret a Miles'ism:

"Had Mett not sustained a hand-injury earlier in the season that limited his reps, he could've played some even on 1/9."

Exactly. Miles was speaking about the overall development of Mett, not about whether the injury itself made him unavailable for the game.

to the OP because I had almost forgotten about that horrible game.

Next season is almost here!

Les doesn't think much of Lee. I don't think he thinks a whole helluva lot about Jordan, but he likes him more. esp. against defenses that can get after the passer.

fyi, I don't agree with Les, just my take on the matter.

on to Mett...

He thought enough of Lee to let him be the starting QB on his football team for the 1st 9 weeks of the season.

Could Les' quote be revealing, in that maybe there are some truth to the rumors that JL either wasn't attending classes, had bad grades or poor attitude or words about JJ playing time, or something along those lines?

And I loathe JJ.
Just spitballing here. Its the only rational reason for not playing JL.

apparently this board can't move on......so how 'bout we go ahead and bring up the 2000 UAB game...or how 'bout the 5 interception game against Auburn. since we like kicking ourselves in the balls so much. those games pissed me off alot more then that other thing that happened awhile back.

got damn gluttons for punishment in here

Look, whenever Les speaks you just have to look at is as a "different form of English." Kind of like this:

I will agree that Les didnt like/think much of Lee but I would disagree about him not thinking much about Jordan. Maybe after JJ threw the coaching staff under the bus his opinion of JJ lowered but he seemed to be solidly behind JJ and insistent on playing him no matter how he performed. You would think mobility would be an asset against an aggressive defense but you would also think consistently putting up incredibly bad statistics would limit ones playing time. I mean going an entire half without being able to get one first down would seem to be something that would concern most HC's but with JJ and Miles that did not seem to be the case as well as numerous other horrific JJ performances.
