Ate lunch there today. Oysters good as usual. Didn’t see CLK though.

Oxford is a backwater of delusions. Food eaten at grocery stores and gas stations is not awesome. 5 day old oysters! Do they even have 100 flavors of daiquiries at their gas stations?

When I was a kid in the late 60’s early 70’s, on Friday night we’d go to dinner. Either Phil’s on Government or Ruby’s under the Perkins Road Overpass. It wasn’t just the shrimp basket or steak burger, it was also the community gathering that made it special, and both were always lit when an LSU game was involved.

BR takes a lot of flak, and much of it deserved, but if you live here, you can go places and always see friends. Ruby’s was like that and Phil’s still remains that way. Most cities you don’t have that sense of community. Started going to Phil’s on Government when I was a kid, now take mine to the new one. We always enjoy it.
