This. He had an amazing recruiting class this past year. I'd like to see if he can continue to pull in that kind of talent.

You think he could manage to coach the Lady Tigers as well? Looks like they're in need of a real coach!

The full list:

1. John Calipari- $7.99M
2. Avery Johnson- $2.90M
3. Frank Martin- $2.85M
4. Cuonzo Martin- $2.70M
5. Mike Anderson- $2.55M
6. Mike White- $2.54M
7. Bruce Pearl- $2.53M
8. Will Wade- $2.50M
9. Billy Kennedy- $2.35M
10. Rick Barnes- $2.25M
11. Mark Fox- $2.15M
12. Ben Hoowland- $2.10M
13. Andy Kennedy- $2.05M
** Bryce Drew (Vandy is private. Salaries not disclosed)

So, throw out Calipari, and Will Wade is right in the middle of the pack at the middle of his 2nd year.

I’m fine with where he is. If he wins, he will get paid.

That actually is not that far off the others except for Calipari. $400,000 difference after taxes is $252,000. And he is just a smidgen behind Pearl who did get Auburn in the tournament last year. Apparently ahead of Barnes whose Tennessee team is supposed to be the elite of the SEC and possible final four. But sure if we continue to play well in the SEC and make the tournament then Wade will deserve a raise. But try and remember this is his only his second year as our coach and he is one of the youngest head coaches in the country.

Next year maybe a lot tougher depending on the personnel we end up with after the draft and recruiting. The exact same people who want to give a coach huge raises and long term contract after a little success are the ones ready to fire him after a couple of losses. I like Wade and want to keep him but let's not get crazy here not even half way through SEC schedule.

Does this apply to other sports? I read about lots of folks wanting to extend the contract of the tackle football coach. Curious as to what’s different with folks wanting the basketball coach to be paid a little more?

You implying I'm in the camp of extending or giving a raise to CEO?

Maybe he should win something first? Just a thought.

Well, yeah.
