Do you guys realize who is behind all of these Will Lyles articles along with the street agent articles and such targeting LSU, Auburn and Oregon (and to a lesser extent A&M)?
Texas. Their shine has worn off, they aren't recruiting as well, and Mack and the Burnt Orange Machine are trying like crazy to paint any school in a negative light that goes up against them in recruiting.
The funny thing is, Frank Denhuis and other large Texas boosters are the worst offenders of paying players. Denhuis sends players through banks with checks made out to cash.
This goes beyond Football too.... Texas has the Findlay Prep Basketball team on payroll by paying for thier room and board at Findlay Prep.

Are you referring to Gillispie hiring Deandre Jordan's AAU coach in 2006? Yeah, the NCAA put a stop to that in 2008.
Turgeon is squeaky clean, too clean! I'd prefer he roll up his sleeves a little more and negatively recruit and find loopholes. He's still a decent recruiter, but he's not a top flight one.

However, in the State of Texas, BAYLOR is the worst offender when it comes to Basketball cheating.
I digress... lets not derail this thread.

No theirs some things going on now with future recruits to A&M. I personaly dont think its a big deal and may not even be against ncaa rules but I know for a fact that they have recruits on the same high school team staying with alum for housing.

I'm certain LSU has paid players before, but this story seems like Lyles acting independently, more than anything.
If I can talk my way into an easy 80k from a school desperate to rebuild its program, just for a kid's signature, I'm sure as hell going to try it and say anything to make it happen.
All Lyles allegedly said was other schools were willing to pay. It's only implied we paid PP because he ended up committing to us.

I'm not sure which recruits you're referring to, but I'm pretty plugged into our Basketball program here.
With that said, that is not against NCAA rules as long as cash isn't exchanging hands. Now, if they were in college and living for free at a boosters house, that would fall into a very very gray area.

Oh,ok then my mistake. I think the only person at fault is the high school because they are practically recruiting for a public school

It's not a steet agent. It's a recruiting service.
Sigh.
Sigh.

I know, I originally started responding to Ball Gravy's comment about Texas being behind the Lyles articles and street agent articles, before I started changing my post. Edited for your peace of mind.

This whole thread needs to be whacked. There are at least 8 people on here posting ridiculousness that borders on insanity.
Aside from the fact that the phrase "I wouldn't be surprised if LSU pays players" or some variation thereof, has been thrown out 15 times with no reason aside from egomaniacs who need to insert personal rampant speculation (this isn't even opinion), why are we throwing anyone at LSU or PP under the bus in any shape or form right now when there is NO INFORMATION OR ANY ACCUSATIONS that implicate them yet?
This story does not implicate LSU or PP. It just says a ahole was out trying to make a buck.
This is nothing like Cam Newton. PP's father has straight out said they didn't have anything to do with Lyles and that Lyles wasn't representing them.
It's not about naivete. It is about us not eating our own until we know something. We are putting out more retarded unsubstantial allegations than the media or any former coach. It is ridiculous.
If possibly something was done illegally, throw the freaking book at us, but until then, why they hell are we dogging our own, when for all we know they did absolutely nothing wrong?
Its silly.

Whow badass. I missed that, where's the link?

Who's to say that Lyles wasn't attempting to initiate a pay-for-play scheme with other teams, but Peterson derailed his efforts by signing with a team that he WASN'T trying to push him towards?
LSU had just come off a NC and put about 9 players into the NFL.
And on top of that, Peterson's attitude towards the school doesn't seem to fit the story. He's more dedicated and committed to the school than any player I've heard of in recent memory.
And to add another element to this... what about Avery?

That's my read to this point in time as well.

Character defines a person and guides their actions in a consistent manner over the course of years/decades/lifetime. PP7 displayed nothing but the highest integrity, strong leadership and a willingness to comply with all team/school rules during his time at LSU. Leopards don't change their spots so....
I'm calling bullshite on this one !

"Malone is an assistant coach at Tulane University"...end of discussion.
Just another jealous child from toolame trying to destroy LSU.

I don't see how getting paid to play college football lowers one's integrity. It's breaking a silly made up rule. It's not the law.
