He's got two cousins who are already in the league. I'm sure that's a lot of pressure.

ETA: Pressure to not go against the union that is.

I would simply let it leak that a few of the top teams refuse to draft those who refuse to show up.

You can't be serious

If a player doesn't want to go, it's his prerogative. If Pat agrees with the union and wants to take a stand, then that's his business.

Players don't go for multiple reasons. Joe Thomas was the #3 pick a few years back and didn't go because he was fishing, maybe Pat has a fishing trip scheduled.

Either way, I PROMISE you this won't effect his stock one iota.

The NFL draft has nothing to do with the issues that the owners (the league) and the NFLPA are trying to work out. The NFL Draft is just another tool for the league o promote it's product and the union has their panties in a wad because of the lockout. They are just being vengeful by putting pressure on this years draft prospects to not attend an event that benefits the league. Typical union bullying.

The union would be more than happy to end this lockout. Unfortunately ultra-greedy owners won't let it happen.

Sad

It's messed up that the PA is making these kids skip out on the draft. If it was me I'd tell them to kiss my arse, I'm walking across that stage and shaking Goodell's hand!

:kige:

I would be pissed off if I was asked to not walk across. That's the moment you enter the NFL, sort of like another graduation. All of those who are asking these players have walked across that stage, so why should the new guys have to miss out on that? Yeah solidarity, yeah yeah. Sorry, but that's your moment, not theirs. What is them not going gonna do? Unless every single player doesn't go, it's not gonna make that much of a difference.

Good to see PP is weighing the trade-offs of attending, whatever they may be. If a player is truly committed to being the best they can be, public ceremony is a non-issue.

I like a little humility in top athletes. Even a little false humility every now and then can be refreshing.

Not sure what the "cons" are, other than not being able to enjoy the moment with your whole family.

It is like being hired to a union during a strike. You are excited about your new job but you are walking into a mess of a situation and the first thing you do is trying to fit in and not piss off everyone.

I personally would walk across the stage and not shake Goodell's hand but take my jersey and tell him it is his fault he wont be watching the single greatest DB to be drafted in the past ten years this season!

I'd be careful showing 'solidarity' with a union that is willing to sacrifice the current rookie salary system and cost the kids millions of dollars (not saying that the old system is right). But how can someone like Orakpo or Bradford tell a kid not to enjoy his moment of fame on that stage when just one year or two ago they got theirs (plus tens of millions more).
