I could be wrong, but I believe Pete Carrol saw him at some camp and claimed he was easily the best football player he had seen in a decade.

I will say he is the best corner I've ever seen play.

But I don't know how to effectively compare him to Ricky Williams or Suh, who I think are the in the top 3 best CFB players I've seen in my day.

Although I will readily agree that Peterson is in the "special" category, I would in no way put him in any "best ever" categories just yet.

And I agree the previous poster that Herschel Walker is the best that I've ever seen. I started really following CFB in 1980, so there have probably been better... (Red Grange, Jim Brown, O.J., etc. come to mind).

With all due respect to P.P., Deion Sanders is the best DB in the history of the sport.

Peterson may start out as a CB in the pros, but his best position will be FS and he might turn out to be the best at that postion.

Sanders is half a step faster than Peterson

I'd say Peterson is just as good in the return game and he's definitely a more complete player.

Who exactly do you think you are to be making these claims?

Best talent I've seen come through Baton Rouge--Billy Cannon, Tommy Casanova, Ronnie Estay, Cecil Collins, Ryan Perilloux. Patrick Peterson is right there with them. But there's a number of great players on this current team--Randle, Kelvin Sheppard, Russell Shepard, and Stevan Ridley (who's as good as Jacob Hester.) This may be one of LSU's great teams. Did you notice there're only two seniors on offense and only three on defense?

Vick is the best college player I've ever seen. He nearly beat a great FSU team by himself.

Stevan Ridley right now is the strength of the LSU offense. I say a great running back is one who can be given the ball on 3rd down and 3 yards to go and will make the first down most of the time. That vastly opens up opportunities for the quarterback and offense. Ridley makes it most of the time.

Wow, He's really friggin good, but apparently no one on this board watched Josh Reed play. I'm 36 and have never seen a player as good as him in college. He couldnt be covered. I watched Cecil, Faulk, Randy Moss, Dalton, etc and can't remember anyone dominating like him. That Illinois game was a clinic.IMO Peterson is good, but no Josh Reed

Randle won't have the amount of yards in his career that some past Tiger receivers had in one year. It just ain't happening with the offensive production (or lack of) that we're seeing.

the guy is going to be a shut down corner. They aren't going to move him to safety unless he fails at corner.

Lack of offensive production is not his fault and really has nothing to do with how great of a reciever he is and how much potential he has.

I don't look so much at how many yards a player accounts for, but who makes the plays that win the games. As C. Mike Dubose said once, "Everyone's got players, and everyone's got talent. It's the ones who make the plays that decides the games."
