Skenes is such a huge difference

He was, Floyd and Hurd were major along with Cooper. Skenes never pitched against Florida in the Championship Games.
Many were saying, all we had was Skenes. We proved them to be more than wrong.

I would phrase it as how many trips to the CWS - once in Omaha, it's a crapshoot.

I would think Jay will have us in contention for Omaha on a regular basis.

We may not have a Skenes but I think In time they could have a better weekend staff 1 thru 3
It can be done with a staff like Tenn or Fla had this past season

Ole. Piss didn't even make the tournament this year. Miss st. Is in the shite house after winning 2 years ago.

Hopefully Jay makes Omaha once every 4 years.

Under or at. This year we'll compete, but we're rebuilding. We may make it to Omaha again, but we're losing a lot, and it was just year 2. I don't think that Jay has completely built out the foundation of this program to where we can expect to repeat. Not just yet anyway.

I just hope the fanbase doesn't turn on Jay like it turned on Paul because they think it's an LSU birthright to win multiple titles.

Many LSU fans just don’t seem to understand both how unusual the Skip Bertman era was and how much more competitive the sport has gotten since. 16 of 31 schools that have won the CWS only won once. Only 9 schools have won more than 2. LSU is one of only 4 schools with multiple titles in the last 20 years and Oregon St is the only other school with more than 2 since 1986. Here’s how long it had been since the last title for each team winning for the 2+ time lately (and how long since they won):

LSU - 14 years
Vandy - 5 years (4 years)
Oregon St - 11 years (5 years)
Arizona - 26 years (11 years)
S. Carolina - 1 year (12 years)
LSU - 9 years
Oregon St - 1 year
Texas - 3 years (18 years)
CSF - 9 years (19 years)

For every other multiple champion, it’s been more than 20 years since their last.

So Jay and the LSU program are only half as consistent to Omaha as Florida over the last 16 years?

What in the hell?

With none of those streaks since 2011. Additionally, Oregon St is the only one of those schools to win again since then and that was after an 11-year drought.

And Vandy won 2 in 5 but made 3 championship series appearances in that stretch also.

If this year taught me anything it's that a NC in baseball is probably the hardest of the big sports. So much has to go right. We assembled probably the most talented roster in college baseball history and still barely made it. In football there's only a handful of teams who have a real shot at beating you. In basketball you can trail by a lot and still come back if your depth is better than the small Cinderella school, and rarely is an opponent one bad possession away from pulling off an upset. All you need is a 4 point lead in basketball and a team cant win on one possession. In baseball you need a 4 run lead for that which is obviously massive compared to 4 points in basketball. A single dominant pitcher from an average team can cause a tournament upset, a rain delay can destroy your pitching advantage, wind can destroy your power hitting advantage, one pitcher with the yips can implode and ruin a lead, arm injuries can derail your season. Sometimes your survive by the luck of Pearson sticking his glove up there and saving a victory or Morgan playing a squeeze perfectly to preserve a lead. Sometimes you lose by a 3rd basemen making a perfect throw with Morgan in the throwing lane to hose him at the plate.

It's so easy for the best team in college baseball to get eliminated. And it's part of why I think this tournament absolutely shits all over March Madness.

I'll always expect for LSU to be in Omaha, but Ill never expect to win another one. The baseball gods have too much say
