re: Outgoing transfers are not making vertical or even lateral moves in the portal

I don’t think either of those teams are that good but A&M especially played an atrocious schedule.
They beat
UTSA 6-6
Utah state 6-7
Auburn 5-7 fired their coach
Miss State 5-8
Florida. 4-8 fired their coach
Arkansas 2-10 fired their coach
LSU 7-6 fired their coach
Missouri 8-5
USC-e 4-8
Samford 1-11
They played three good teams. Notre dame, Texas, and Miami and lost 2 out of the three.
If you consider the SEC standings they played 1 team that tied for 5th place and lost. The next best team in the SEC they played was Missouri who tied for 8th.
If you think Tennessee is better than Missouri than the only team in the bottom 8 of the conference that they didn’t play was Kentucky. Their 7 conference wins came from the worst 8 teams in the SEC.

LSU is a consensus top 5 head coaching job in all of college football for a reason.
We just retained a miracle worker, do you know how difficult it is to program Ole Miss into a national semi-final game?
We are objectively immense, always on the brink of success at the highest level and our tangible accomplishments exceed the sum of all of these destination schools combined. Poor single-season records be damned, one of those and our chicken littles start acting like we are not LSU anymore.
These transferring players are being processed and here we have people acting like they are somehow failing upwards

All of that is opinion. This program has little to show following its 2019 season. A SEC west crown? Ok. JD5 was great but as a program it has gone mostly nowhere.

None of those schools achieved an SEC divisional crown in that same time and if not for the expanded field none of them would have experienced playoff football. Congrats to them for top 10 finishes this year but to act like it's not their ceiling is disingenuous.
Opinion perhaps but a defensibly valid one.

The only thing that bothers me is that our OL guys are going to other SEC schools. While we are replacing them with JUCO and small school OL guys so far that aren't very big and don't look strong upper body wise. This is where my concern is and I don't like that we let our OL guys go to other SEC schools. I think it was coaching that failed them.

To quote the managerial genius Jose Mourinho in regard to players transferring out
"See where they play, how they play, if they play"

So far as CFP is concerned LSU has been irrelevant since 2019. Further, it has had multiple embarrassments called football teams in that time. We have little to crow

Yet we beat Nick Saban's Alabama and returned to Atlanta in the season following our worst single-season performance in the modern era.
Does that not signify a level of resilience and staying power that others have not quite demonstrated?
I understand the idea of only being as good as your most recent performance I really do.

Maybe we have different sets of metrics, but no matter. Cheers

The direction of the move is entirely based on $ received. They probably all got more $ than we were offering, so vertical moves.
These kids don't care about your last championship. Nor should they.

This was a re-tooling year and a massive outlier.
This was not a re-tooling year, it was a massive failure. You do not fire a coach with $60m left on the table and $20m+ on the roster during a retooling year. LSU went all in and failed miserably.

I think that every Tiger fan is a little uneasy knowing that we haven’t brought in a single OL starter yet. We just have to hope that changes soon.

4 of our lineman have signed with teams that have been in the playoffs the last 2 years. One has visited another playoff team. Another player has signed with a team in the playoffs this past year…So your post is not accurate.

as usual people down voting actual stats - they are what they are - OL made moves to SEC teams IF the chart is accurate. Skill players seem to have moved down for the most part. We will see how it plays out but OBVIOUSLY other schools were not in bidding wars for these players or so it seems....you either embrace facts and get better or live in the comfortable lie - most choose the latter.

I think everyone agrees that we would like better OL out of the portal but saying that Tennessee and A&M are vertical moves just because of some quirks of scheduling defies logic.
Everyone agrees the Brian Kelly era was a failure at LSU. But LSU as a program has a ceiling and a floor so high right now that we fired the winningest coach in Notre Dame’s history for going 34-14 (Giving him Wilson’s 2-3 record 36-17). Over the same time period Tennessee is 38-14 and A&M is 31-20 and this is considered golden years for them.
Their playoff appearances were lucky scheduling. A&M went 0-1 against the top 8 teams in the SEC by losing to the 5th place team and 7-0 against the bottom 8 teams including 3 games they easily could have lost. They had 1 good win the entire year with a 1 point victory over Notre Dame.
Tennessee’s playoff appearance was similar as they played 3 good teams all year and went 1-2. Also throwing in a loss to Arkansas. Their best victory that year was over 9-4 Alabama team which finished in a 6 way tie for 4th place in Knoxville. They went 5-1 against the bottom 7 teams in the SEC and 1-1 against the rest of the conference.
By contrast, LSU played four playoff teams this year with three of them on the road and played 5 of the top 7 teams in the SEC.
TLDR: Tennessee and A&M as programs are at absolute best a lateral movie and most likely a move down but due to scheduling quirks some people greatly inflate their program’s status.

Not looking like too many bidding wars with the alpha programs
I’ll stand by my original post this is a mass processing of offensive personnel. We have a smart hc.

I was confused why so many folks were bashing you
Then I saw it was a couple days old thread and they were in full hysterics
You should make the same thread again

I think the responses in this thread are emblematic of the catastrophe syndrome, if things aren’t picture perfect the wheels must be flying off.
LSU had a middling year under poor leadership and all of a sudden we are looking up to the likes of aggy and ole piss. Tulane made the playoffs too maybe we should act like their little brother too.

Also basically the entire board was ready for every OL to leave
